Motion Sickness - Devs please read
Hello,

First off I just wanted to say that I really enjoy your game. I refund about 80% of the games I purchase because they give me motion sickness, which usually triggers a month long vertigo process.

There is one aspect of your game that is really tough. When I am doing a small action (mining or cutting down small tree) I have noticed that the screen goes from left to right and back (about .25 inches) while I am doing this action. It is messing me up big time. Currently I just look away as the screen sways, but I beg of you to add something in the settings to turn this off.

There IS a setting that SEEMS like it should turn it off, but it doesn't change it at all.

Thanks!

Edit: i have a lot of games that dont make me sick, thanks for the advice though. i dont mind vetting games and playing the ones that dont make me feel ill.

I just tested this out, in Pilgrim's Passage there isn't ANY screenshake, it's as far as I can tell ONLY in the Cult-Base.
And I have screen shake set to 0%, camera motion reduce is ON and I deactivated bloom.
And why don't you just let it be? Go fishing or look for friends instead of looking for games haha... or visit a doctor? One ,
Try using a black and white filter in games. Try using a black and white filter in games. Or color filter glasses https://www.vision-doctor.com/en/colour-filters.html

Whatever you do; don't hover your cursor over your own profile pic.
Was thinking of picking this up, but I also have a problem with games that have screen shake. Was coming to ask if it's possible to disable... Guess that's been answered.
People, no need to be rude to someone asking for help.

Anyways -- yes! Accessibility menu in settings has both a slider for screen shaking and a toggle for reduced camera sway. I hope it helps.

The reality of the situation is: game development costs time and money, everything you add to your game will drain your funds and extend development. For small game dev teams with a limited budget it's simply unreasonable to expect spending their already limited resources on something that will only make sense and benefit 0.1% or even less of the people who ever play it.

That's why you still don't see accessibility options in almost any video game. Because from a purely pragmatic point of view it's a waste of time and money that could be better spent on something that every player can benefit from. It's just not a valid proposition, the only time they are put in video games is by large dev studios with extreme budget (who do this only for PR reasons by the way), or in case of small dev teams if it's something they strongly care about on a personal level.

There is always a cost to more features, but in general more accessibility features benefits everybody, not just the people that need them in order to play the game. For example I do not suffer from motion sickness in any way, but one of the 1st things I always do is turn off screen shake and motion blur since I find it annoying. Giving people more options is always a positive, and if it allows a few people who otherwise wouldn't be able to play to enjoy the game everyone benefits.
I don't suffer from motion sickness but I also always turn off screen shake in any game that offers it, much as I do with distortion, blur and a bunch of other stuff that I find unnecessary and distracting.

More accessibility options is always a good thing.
I hated that screen shake. Turned it way down. The slider worked for me.

Have you considered that playing video games is probably not in your best interest? Stop drinking the bone-hurting juice.
A rather unknown quote fits here really well. Its from a barely known game, really cool tho. Its something about the definition of Insanity. "Insanity is doing the exact... same ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ thing... over and over again expecting... ♥♥♥♥ to change..." (well the original quote is from Einstein but we all know whos more well known.

If you get Month long Vertigo from Playing Video Games.... DONT DO IT.
Its like eating toxic waste because you like it and then wondering if you can change it that it dosnt make you sick and dont need to see a doc anymore. Or liking the feeling of sticking a hot knife into your eyesocket but then asking around how you can avoid the certain blindness afterwards.
And then complainign about moving Images. Bro have you ever seen your avatar and background image.

Just dont do things that make you sick. I learned as a kid that hot stoves are painful....then you learn to not touch hot stoves...and you stop doing it. I learned that i cant drink beer because my body is allergic to something in it...and i switched to cider. Play it smart, dont do stuff that hurts you.
sounds more like you shouldnt be playing video games

Excessively generalizing a concept.

The issue being discussed is caused by more than just shaking screens; such individuals that suffer from this (a 10 second Google search reveals this is called "cybersickness") should avoid blue light exposure, should frequently get up and walk while remaining still, and avoid focusing for too long (20 minutes). In other words, Don't Play Videogames!!!

Frankly, video game developers should disregard such an audience, because those users have to find video games that incidentally fit those needs. Morphing what the target audience would consider to be a good game for a small minority that doesn't even have any relevance to being part of the target audience is quite unwise.

Regardless, screen shake reduction is already feature in the game. Screen shake has been overdone and it is wise for developers to include such a slider just in case they do overdo it. Quite a few players now have an aversion to even small degrees of it due to prior excessive use in other games, while not suffering from cybersickness.

Like being aware of the Wilhelm scream, once you know about it, its hard not to notice it.
