SiN Gold

SiN Gold

SiN Gold or SiN Reloaded?
I see that Nightdive has been working on a remaster of this game but it's still unreleased, but somehow this version has been mantained as recent as 2020??
What's so great about the remaster that it requires a separate version that is taking to long to release?
Should I just wait for the eventual release? Which I reckon will be probably more expensive than this version because it's newer?

I'm very disappointed in how they handled the Reloaded version. They could have said something to us.
With that said, i am sure they will eventually release an enhanced remaster of this game in the same way they remastered Shadow man.

And when that day comes all will be forgiven.

As for if you should wait? who knows.. its been years and nobody knows what the actual F is going on. No official statements as of yet.
Honestly looking at the "Reloaded" version I see a bunch of aesthetical changes I simply do no care for, there used to be a time where I thought Nightdive could never miss (Shadow Man, Blood and PowerSlave being perfect examples of them enhancing a game to perfection while remaining faithful to the original) but that, them focusing on churning out remasters of shooters no asked for (where's No One Lives Forever, bruh? :papyrus:) and some of the changes they want to do to System Shock 2 (MIA too, also), idk... :steamfacepalm:
Too bad to think it's the Reloaded version which will get achivement support since this version more or less seems perfectly playable on modern systems :steambored:

Im sure that trailer they released of reloaded wont be anything near the final product. I think it will be a totally different look to it that will more closely follow the original games design and look.
Yeah it is about time they gave us System shock 2 enhanced and No one lives forever.
You gotta understand tho that it was only recently that Atari bought them and Nolf license was under Atari ownership. So i am certain we will get Nolf some day.

But it will take time to remaster such a game.

Not so sure about that, considering that if the idea is to be "faithful" to the look of the original they wouldn't be doing a separate remaster advertising the "new ""enhanced""" graphics instead of just updating the version that is already on Steam (like they have already done). Judging by the PCGW entry it's as definitive as it could be sans the achivement support
Best-case scenario would be just them giving away Reloaded for free to all SiN owners (much like System Shock Enhanced)

That's good to know :lunar2019piginablanket:
Dunno why they bother with stuff like The Thing and Killing Time over NOLF, they might as well be remastering Redneck Rampage or something :papyrus: (unless... :sans:)

Well Shadow man and Turok 3 aren't the same as Turok 1&2 or Quake 1&2.

All of them are remasters but the big difference is that shadow man and Turok 3 & Shadow man has high resolution textures an lots of other added effects that those others lack.
They are all remasters.

I think SiN reloaded will land in the Shadow man category of remastered. and i base that on the footage of the trailer.
The magnum is a entirely new 3d model and there are higher resolution textures present.

That trailer looks like crap tho, and i hope to god Nightdive will be the only ones that have their hands on it.
slipstream ironworks needs to stay the F away from it, I don't trust them after that Kingpin reloaded,Phantom Fury and even Graven to some extent.

So yeah give me a Shadow man style SiN reloaded where we have an super enhanced version that both adds and restores but also makes it look amazing while staying true to the original vision.
that is the way this needs to be =D

You should just go ahead and get sin gold, its a barebone pc port, but sin is a great game, and it only goes for 3-4$ on sell. It also includes the expansion wages which I loved even more than sin. Over 30 levels of gameplay, its a great deal. If you like it then it will justify the 30$ you might put down later for reloaded.
I tried Sin Gold but Im holding out for Reloaded, I hope we get it sooner than later.

Why would you want a remaster if you haven't played the vanilla game? That's kind of the point of remasters, to remaster a game you enjoyed. I really enjoyed sin and wages, why not finish gold? Its a great game.

Actually the whole point of a remaster would be for newcomers to jump in to an old game with its edges sanded off for their enjoyment and be the ideal way to play the game over the original

Like, isn't that what remasters such as the recently-updated Turok, Shadow Man, and Quake are? How many of the people playing them are fans of the original and how many are people playing for the first time? The one thing in common is that they probably don't wanna bother booting up the OG version ever again
