It takes too long before you can save
While there are other (farming) games where you can only save at bed time, in Epic Chef the first day takes way too long. I had to start from the beginning two times because I couldn't reach the end of the day before something in real life came up and I had to stop playing.

This is incredibly frustrating.
I otherwise love the game so far.

But I had to keep my computer running and the game running in the background throughout the day, while doing my other business away from the PC, to be able to save for the first time.

Unfortunately I don't think the save system will ever be improved, but I agree with you completely. The fact that you can only save at bedtime *and* that the game won't let you go to bed early is such a poorly implemented mechanic.

If you want to only have sleep-saves, fine, but you have to allow people to sleep at anytime. I've started to play the game several times but this one issue stops me from going very far into the game. I simply don't have long-enough stretches of time to devote to a game; I grab a few minutes here and there when I can.

And yes, of course, there are methods to pass time, but you can only use each one once per day, they only pass a limited amount of time, and other than the one at your desk you have to go search them out which takes, wait for it: time.

Seems like a great game in all other respects.

Yes! This is so frustrating! I am currently on the first day (I just bought the game) and I encountered a bug where I can't get the inventory menu off my screen. Entering the house doesn't remove the inventory menu, pressing ESC brings up the main menu screen on top of the inventory screen, engaging in dialog doesn't remove the inventory screen. SO frustrating. Now I have to restart the day and hope it doesn't happen again. Would have been really cool to save and reload the game to not lose all the progress I made :2018salienbeast2:

in case someone else wants to save - there is a spot behind the bed next to the chest, that allows to wait until evening at least from 1pm (not sure if available on the first day though)

At least on PC you can use cheats to access a debug menu of sorts though instead of a menu its hotkeys. This "menu" has some useful time manipulation functions to change the time of day thus making it easier to save by setting the time to 9PM. I say 9PM because if you set it to 8PM it will still say 7PM as you need to wait 1 in game hour until it actually changes. This is because for some reason the game world only changes if an in game hour has passed hence the reason why I just set the clock 1 hour ahead of the time I want.

Yep agreed, the save system completely sucks.

You can repeatedly look out of the window on second floor of villa to skip an hour every time. Not the most efficient system, but faster than looking for events.

So there is debug somewhere, can you send the link here or in private message ?

(Note: This only works after 12 PM ingame) If you go to the balcony by your bed, it has something that says "skip until bedtime"
