Is there a bug with Player Guidance?

I have it set to Old School, but I'm still getting constant hints from Carnby. I mean, every time there's a puzzle he essentially tells me what to do. "Maybe I should read the numbers on the labels…” I'm enjoying the game enough that, if it’s a bug, I’d like to wait until it's fixed before continuing.

I also tried toggling on the setting to make interaction points more visible, and I don't really see a difference. With it on or off, a white circle shows over each interactable object when I'm a few feet away. I mention it in case it's diagnostically helpful.

There is an awful bug with player guidance, at some point changing to Old School or Modern doersn't work anymore, and hints bugs out that they don't even show anymore, like the number Carnby sees on a wall, the numbers are gone forever in my game (I know how to solve this in another way, won't spoil here) but unfortunately my game is bugged and certain hints that are needed to solve some puzzle are gone forever, they only wokred in my very first playthrough, changing player guidance does not work in my game.

Alright, finally managed to fix my issue:

-Uninstall game
-Delete game's folder
-Delete 'DRIVE:\Users\YourUserName\AppData\Local\AloneInTheDark\'
-Reinstall the game
