Unable to save game.

I keep trying to save my game, it shows the camera icon and the checkmark but doesn't actually save.

That sounds very strange. Please try the following:

1. Press Windows key + R key
   
2. Paste the following into the window that appears: %localappdata%/AloneInTheDark
   
3. Check that you have the following folders in the new folder that opens: Saved > SaveGames

Assuming you have already passed a checkpoint (the game autosaves at certain points, indicated by the camera symbol flashing on screen), your Savegames folder should have at least five files:

• profile.sav
  
• settings.sav
  
• steam_autocloud.vdf
  
• two "save_number.sav" files (one for the autosave, one for your manual attempt)

If save_0.sav is not there, it means your game did not actually create a save file. In that case, please try the following two steps:

1. Enter "Ransomware Protection" in Windows search and hit Enter to bring up the Ransomware Protection settings. Make sure that "Controlled Folder Access" is not on.
   
2. Right-click game in Steam > Properties, uncheck "Keep Savegames in the cloud" (this is to ensure that cloudsaving isn't messing with your file for some reason)

If neither of these solves the issue, do you have any third party antivirus/firewall software installed? (i.e. more than just Windows Defender)

I tried all of these solutions. No Save games folder exists for some reason. Ransomware Protection was set to off and I unchecked "Keep Savegames in the cloud". Not sure what else can be causing this. I even verified integrity of game files and uninstalled and reinstalled.

Hm... that is incredibly strange. You can report it via the link in the pinned thread of this forum, but I fear trying to reproduce this issue in QA would be like searching for a needle in the world's biggest haystack.

So, I can save the game on my steam deck but not my PC. So I imagine there must be some issue with my game on PC. I'll just play the game on my Deck. No biggie.
