These guys clearly have no idea of the past heritage of the series and they are doing a terrible sales decision with this. But it's cheap THQ Nordic after all, what can you expect.

I would expect a game such as Alone in the Dark to have way more budget, the game looks kinda rough but it's still pre-alpha so no reason to start bashing it yet, we've barely seen most of the game yet, only small portions of it.

Like you say or imply, the Alone in the Dark series is a big brand (even if it has been dormant for most of the recent years) and therefore its comeback game should have a much bigger budget, but a small company like THQ Nordic is not able to satisfy that. And I don't mean it because of the rough appearance, but also because of the modest localization decisions planned for it which reek to small indie game instead of an AAA title.

You are Brazilian, and you should know the Alone in the Dark series also has a voice localization history in your language (similar to us, maybe a little less), so you are also left stranded by the sideeffects of the poor budget this game seems to be receiving unfortunately. Infogrames/Atari was always more than able to satisfy this.

Kinda unfortunate THQ Nordiq isn't big, i thought it was but now i realize it's a normal misconception.

It's times like this that make me feel blessed for learning such a almost perfect understanding of english on my own, this means it doesn't affect me that much, but even then, there's always fan translations around the corner, as you may know, my country has a large history of fan translations to either localize games for easier understanding of the story or for comfort purposes.

It's rather unfortunate that there's a possibility that not only my language will not be available in the game but also other people around the world, especially the spanish speakers, they are the ones that suffer the most, i'll show the ace attorney games as an example, they haven't had a localization of new games for over 14 years.

Well, I just asked someone in charge in the Discord server about this, and it seems the list of languages is deemed final, so it's very sad this attempt to bring a big name franchise is addressed as just another cheap indie production probably running underbudget instead of following the localization trend established not only by previous Alone in the Dark titles, but also by pretty much all other similar titles in the industry. A big shame and definitely a missed opportunity to get Alone in the Dark back as it truly deserves.

Missed opportunity to make subs and dubs for each language, shame they're low on budget.

I need dubs in Egyptian, Sanskrit and Gunganese.

Spanish is not my native language. But I will support it. I thank Spain for the weapons

Despite what they previously stated that the list of languages was closed and final, it turns out they have just added Japanese voice language, which was a text only language before. So, if they are still considering adding new languages to the list and especially update already included ones with voiceovers up to the release in October, then Spanish should definitely be the following one to consider.

Including Spanish voiceovers to this game would be important not only because of the added value/revenue that would give to a game of this genre where the ambience and inmersion is so important (see how other survival horror games with Spanish voices like the Resident Evil and the Dead Space series fare for reference), but also because most of the previous installments of the Alone in the Dark series already had Spanish voiceovers (Alone in the Dark 3, Alone in the Dark: The New Nightmare and Alone in the Dark: Inferno, even the spin off Time Gate: Knight's Chase) and it would be a shame to interrupt that already established trend with this new reboot.

I support your desire to play in Spanish. I hope devs will consider adding Spanish dub and at least Ukrainian subtitles. :steamhappy:

They should really invest more funds in language localization for a game like this which is aimed to be AAA profile and the reborn of the creator of the genre. No need to point out the Resident Evil games, even Alan Wake II features more languages (one more dub this one doesn't, which is actually Spanish, and yes, it seems to have Ukrainian subtitles)

No, there is no Ukrainian language. But we will do our best to make the developers notice their fanbase in Ukraine and add at least Ukrainian subtitles. I would like to see voice acting, but that's too much to ask. Alone in the Dark is a cult series, I even played the first part. It's a great series. It's a pity we will never get a sequel, but I hope the restart will be a success. It's not a remake, that's for sure. It's a relaunch!

I hope you get your Spanish voice acting. Because in the end, even the Japanese voice acting will be there.

I was actually refering to Alan Wake II there. It has both Spanish voiceovers and Ukranian subtitles, for reference.

Yes, I am aware of this. And this news really became a holiday for Ukrainian gamers. Because the history of the Ukrainian language is very interesting and repressive. It's very important for Ukrainians, so it's likely that now someone will buy a game from us just to thank us for adding the Ukrainian language, even if they weren't interested in the game.

I have asked about this and at the moment they aren't able to give a proper answer. But I previously asked when the initial batch of languages was released, they said it was a "definitive list" and then it turns out the Japanese voiced language was added, so this gives hope they will still be adding further voice and text languages.
