References to the original Alone in the Dark game
I've found a few references that remind me a lot of the first "Alone in the Dark" game, and I'm curious if I've missed some.

Besides the obvious things: the two characters, the intro, the house, and the name of the girl (which actually appears in "Alone in the Dark 2"), I've also found:

  • A few objects, such as the lantern and the clown-in-a-box toy (which I think appears in the "Jack is Back" minigame that precedes "Alone In the Dark 2").
  • The song that the ship plays once you activate the engine is the same song you play in the dance room in the original "Alone in the Dark."
  • At the end of Chapter 4, the game changes to an isometric perspective. This is how we used to play "Alone 1 Classic."
  • Near the end, Emily sets the tree on fire. This is how you'd beat "Alone 1 Classic."

I'll edit the post if I find some more. I'm near the end of the game and loving it a lot so far.

Fun fact: The song the ship plays is named Danse Macabre.

In the original game, the initial objective is to investigate the piano in the attic. In the new game the piano has fallen through the floors from the attic. I found that funny.

Also one of the largrididdles (or whatever they are called) is a typewriter ribbon which i felt was a clear hommage to the early RE games

That's the one! I loved it so much when you get to play it. A friend of mine told me what the name of the song was. Danse Macabre as Bastet said above.

I didn't catch that one! Love it!
the secret ending for emily has an amazing references to one of the books of the original game. Demonia Particularis. The game is pretty mid but the references are good

I'm not sure if it's an intentional reference, but one of the first puzzles in the original had you using mirrors to kill a pair of winged demons.
In this game, in the Egyptian tomb section you can use the main puzzle's mirrors to kill the flying enemies.

Also, don't you think this mask looks like Edward Carnby in AITD-1?

1. Pregzt shipping company is a reference to Ezechiel Pregzt, the main villain of the first game. He was a pirate who gained immortality through dark magic.
2. The Wishing Tree in the conservatory being the final boss is a reference to the final boss of AITD 1, Ezechiel Pregzt's spirit inhabits a giant tree under Derceto.
3. The Astarte artists colony, Astarte was the name of Pregzt's pirate ship.
4. In the final cutscene when you play as Emily, Jeremy Hartwood makes reference of needing to bring Grace to Hell's Kitchen. Hell's Kitchen is the name of the mansion from AITD 2, also very pirate themed.
5. In the OG AITD 1, Jeremy takes his life because he fears being possessed by "The Dark Man", which in that game was Pregzt trying to take over Jeremy's body. In this game The Dark Man might be Nyarlethotep and/or Dr. Grey.
6. Ted Striker, if you play Edwards story Ted kidnaps Grace. In AITD2, Ted Striker is a colleague of Edward who goes to investigate Hell's Kitchen before the events of the game and he is killed there trying to rescue Grace.
7. MacCarfey is the name of Jeremy Hartwoods lawyer in the first game.
