Does switching to a different melee weapon and then switching back replenish a melee weapons durability?

I think I switched back and forth between some melee weapons and the one I had prior I think was about to break so I switched to a new one. But when I switched back to it I think the durability for it came back? Does this actually happen?

I did not notice that myself, but then again, I did spend most of my time running around with the nigh unbreakable cross from the cemetery (seriously, on easy difficulty, the cross will carry you all the way to the end of the game).
