It's not so based on levels like all the other games so far. It's much more of an open world you have to sneak through during the day, opening shortcuts that you'll use later on to make more progress, gathering resources to make items during the night that you'll use during the day or to unlock skills.

It's not really Desperados, it's more like bending the rules as much as you can in the prison since there are various factions at work. The guards will be openly hostile if you do bad stuff but the prisoners or monks can alert them and search only for the character that is suspected
