fatal error
the game keeps crashing and giving me a "fatal error" while trying to load the level lonely road. it started after the iron bear fight and I've never had this issue before. I don't know my computer specs but I do know it's a pretty good computer. I updated my graphics driver and it still crashed.

first update: it's only causing the fatal error on the lonely road level, I went to level select and went to the dungeon as a test and it worked fine and I even changed my graphics settings to medium and still can't open that one specific level.

second update: I was able to load the level if I put the graphics on low, nothing else seemed to work for some odd reason.

Hey there, what kind of PC do you have? The Lonely Road level is the only level in the game which we used the Unreal Engine Lumen lighting system so that would explain why it's the only level crashing for you. It's unfortunately the second last level in the game so you were almost able to get through the whole thing.

There is a way to at least experience the last level, though it would require making a new save with the cheats enabled. You would lose your progression from your main save but you can see the final level of the game. In the main menu if you click on the planet icon in the Bears in Space logo 5 times, JC McMinty will do a karate move and say "cool". This means cheats are enabled. If you go to start a new save file now, when you go to select what level to start at, in the bottom right hand corner there will be a button saying "unlock all levels"

If you click that you should be able to start a game from the final level, it will give you some starting money and a selection of guns that you would have unlocked by the time you reached that point

I use an ibuypower pre-built pc that I got back in 2020 (which is why I don't know the specs, I can't find the pc anymore online) but I did end up getting passed the level, I just had to put the graphics on low quality. I was (thankfully) able to beat the game! I really appreciate the reply and have genuinely been enjoying the game :D
I just got a Fatal Error when continuing my early game (still on the starting/tutorial ship). I deleted the save, started a new one, and that too now causes a Fatal Error when starting a new game. This seemed to start since I switched from Fullscreen to Borderless Window, and from Ultra scaling to Medium. Before making those changes, I could play fine (got through a few minutes on the Ursine, before I had to call it a night). However, the intro cutscene (space ships fighting) was very choppy.
