The Case for Bigger Seed Maps in Line Wars
The Case for Bigger Seed Maps in Line Wars

The current seed maps in Line Wars are simply too small for the scale of battles they should support. Right now, there's not enough room for true grand-scale warfare, and it limits strategy in several ways:

Why Bigger Maps Are Essential:

More Cities & Ports = More Meaningful Battles
Right now, territory gets claimed too fast, and with so few cities, there’s little room for strategic maneuvering. More cities and ports would create a deeper tug-of-war dynamic, ensuring battles don’t feel over before they truly begin.

Encouraging Long-Term Strategy Over Rush Tactics
The current small maps force a fast, almost arcade-like playstyle, where rushing and quick eliminations take priority over strategy. Larger maps would allow for extended wars, supply chain management, and strategic comebacks.

A True Grand-Scale Experience
Line Wars has the potential to be an epic war game, but the map sizes hold it back. A larger map would foster greater alliances, naval dominance, and land grabs, making every decision feel more impactful.

Better Balance Between Offense and Defense
With limited space, defensive playstyles are weak because enemies can reach you too fast. Bigger maps would allow for fortifications, chokepoints, and deeper defensive strategies instead of constant head-on clashes.

More Room for Unique Playstyles
Some players prefer rapid expansion, while others enjoy slow, methodical territory control. Right now, the game forces one playstyle due to space limitations. Expanding the map would allow for a wider range of strategies, making matches more diverse and interesting.

Final Thoughts
If Line Wars truly wants to embrace large-scale warfare, bigger maps aren’t just an option—they’re a necessity. More room to conquer, more strategies to employ, and ultimately, a better game.

What do you all think? Would larger seed maps improve the experience?

I would agree with all of your points here. In 2v2 especially bigger seeds will impact the way in a very good and extra strategic way. This would make it feel more like a 4x game that can be played rather quickly. The perfect match if you ask me. Especially with trains coming, we need bigger seeds.
I am pretty sure it would be better to have bigger seed maps. Line War is, from what I know, meant to be a large-scale battle RTS Game. Also, it would be really great since playing a 2v2 or 3v3 is way too small and people just get to eachother faster before anyone can even build a barrack.
I agree, bigger maps would be cool. Variable world sizes are in the backlog.

The limiter at the moment for (much) bigger maps is how the game would perform. We'd need to rearchitect the world generator and fog-of-war a bit to support larger worlds, but if we see a significant increase in units it would probably not offer acceptable performance. Slightly bigger maps are possible, but we'd have to prioritize features and efforts that can boost player numbers before we can make (much) bigger maps.

Thanks for your feedback - I agree with the OP points!
