Wizardry: The Five Ordeals

Bonus points during character creation
When you're creating a character, it gives you a number of bonus points. Is there a way to re-roll the number of bonus points, or do you just have to keep creating new characters and deleting them in order to get a decent number?

Note: If you prefer to reroll until you get a high bonus point roll for each character (as opposed to just taking what you get), you can use the alternative character creation option that lets you select the class you want to start with. You can choose which character creation method you want on the Options screen. "BP first" is the one where you roll random bonus points, and "Class first" is the one where you can select a class without rolling. That would probably be much more fun than spending forty-five minutes rolling up all your characters.

If you don't mind doing some legwork you can download a scenario that has low skill point requirements (I use Muscle Hustle Apolstles, a Ninja can be made with 12 points or so) make your Ninja / Samurai / Lords and then use the 'Reincarnation' option to save your advanced classes, then go to the scenario you want to play, delete ALL the characters at the training ground, and then go to Utilities at the edge of town and select Born Again to import your Ninja into the lineup (Born Again wont function if you have any characters in the lineup).

The characters imported with this method will be at the minimum stats for their race/class, which is less of an issue with advanced classes since you do need solid stats in most areas to make one. I recommend rolling a fresh set of whatever basic classes rather than importing, because otherwise their over stat lineup will be really low.

By the way, keep in mind good/neurtal/evil alignment still transfers over so if you want your Good Lord and Evil Ninja to party together, you'll have to find a way to get around that.

I always choose class first, and reroll until I get a bonus in the 26-30 range which usually takes at most 5 mins or so per character. It's definitely worth it. It is annoying that you have to start by typing in a name, but I just hit a couple random keys on my keyboard, then rename as soon as I get a guy I want to keep.

BTW the max bonus is 30 and be aware that each custom scenario can have different stat caps so its a good idea if you get a bonus in the high teens, to use that to see if your chosen race can get the stats you want for your character.
