Controller not working at all!

Can't get past the language screen. The buttons just simply don't work. and I'm using the xbox controller. please advise.

Turn on the controller, wait for steam to load the controller profile, then you start the game ...

Yes, it plays normally and perfectly on Fall Guys, Ultra Street Fighter IV, etc. I even restarted my computer, tried Bomberman again, tried the other games, and it still will not play on Bomberman but on other games. Tried playing on big screen mode. Controllers are all enabled in settings. I don't get it.

Alright, right click on the game, go to "Properties" => "Controller", then change the "Default setting" to "Enable Steam Input", see if it makes a difference.

Tried that just now. Didn't work unfortunately. I even went into Fall Guys to ensure the controller works and then went back into Bomberman. No dice. :(

turn on joystick, start the game and don't touch the keyboard, only use the joystick

Already tried that. It just won't function. The only way as a work around is using something like Xpadder and mapping the controller buttons with the keyboard so that the game thinks my controller is the keyboard. But it is sad that it has come to this

Yeah, my controller is not working at all also.

oh yea, I should indicate which controllers I tried with that worked with other steam games but NOT on Bomberman:

Razer Wolverine Tournament Edition Xbox One Controller
Xbox 360 Controller (using the USB wireless adapter)
GameSir T4 Pro Wireless
8Bitdo SN30 Pro+
8Bitdo SN30 Pro
8Bitdo N30 Pro2

Again, these all worked on other steam games but on Bomberman, I'm getting no functionality despite the various settings I've changed and restarting the PC and whatnot.

Same for me with the xbox one controller, the game acts as if there is no controller at all.
