Beekeepers, how to?

so i like playing norse but i'm not terribly good at the game.
but beekeepers seem to be terrible for making anything as they need a ton of space to be efficient so it seems like a waste of time trying to make candles or mead over just making beer or pottery.

how am i meant to use this unique production chain without wasting so much land for bees that can barely satisfy 100 pops needs

I just started playing, but I guess you can place beekeepers, foresters and fruit gatherers all side-by-side in remote provinces en masse, that should help a bit. But true, lategame I often end up buying a lot of wax for candles
