Possible but will take quite a while due to the traveling and resource moving the AI will do.
You can also make the build be a priority, by checking the star on it.
You just need to own the province. The building does not need any ressources to build and it is constructed by its own (no builder needed).
You will get a certain amound of goods - in my example +41 grapes. And you can place more than one colony in a province.
Super easy :)

I dont know about that. I have left it running at max speed for 2 hours trying to build it and it wont build. I have buidlers and materials it just wont if its too far. Yea, i found selling/buying to be another option that works for sure. Not fun though.
Oh, I didnt reach that house level yet and have not seen that colony building. Seems like a lazy way to solve the problem though. lol. Where is the fun of a city builder if we just build one building to extract resource from a province rather than having to build a small echo system on the province itself.
But I also used the trading port a lot to buy Tier 3 luxury (or gemstones + gold) to get the last house level. Pretty much impossible the "regular" way...
i was also able to sell the "luxury" in the end making a hell profit by just import the needed resources and export the final product :D
Imo communities with sufficient essential/s are key to projecting expansion/s. I haven’t done or tried it but once all the manpower to keep my industrial city are filled up then I will expand gradually to each and every province that I claimed.
This game is really good the challenge is there before you accomplish the fullest it can offer.
Imo efficient and very productive villagers (due to luxuries you can provide) are the foundation of having a great kingdom.
After playing 3.5k hours of DoM I think I will be into this game for a long while.
Colonies are not saving +20 coal per round ... It's nothing, even +200 coal is not enough.
Outside of town area [2 provinces I think], I put in sheep & cattle pens with houses & market. A little further on I had a coal/iron area for making tools, with houses & market.
Finally I was able to reach a gold area which was quite a distance away. [Built houses & market.] My gold area was focused on minting. From that I was able to reach victory in 16 years with a population of only 260 [and no colony].
On the right, behind the screen, I have a coal plant; below, behind the screen, you can see a diamond mine.
34 years have passed, many cities have died out. And others are dying from an epidemic, I think to finish building my city to them and save them.
