The multiplayer is similar to Civilization or Anno's multiplayer (with servers hosted by players).
You can cooperate with your friends, connect cities together, trade resources, and help each other out.
Or you can compete for land/resources with them, annoy them by stealing or kidnapping their citizens etc., and race to the top to achieve the victory condition first. Sort of like playing a board game.

I find your first look very exciting. Very exciting. It happended in the past to give poeple what i would love to see in a Banished 2 game... and i see some of my dream wishes...
But also it arised also a big preoccupation: Multiplayer....
Will this game only multiplayer ? Will we be able to play as a sandbox type of game ?
Can we do our own town and not have to "deal" with other poeple ?
Im playing it now single player and you can choose how many ai there are. Pretty sure you can solo.
Hi Thanks you for the answer. So it works like Civilization ? with AI playing other faction ?
since you are testing it.... can you tell me what or how the AI is doing , as strategy ? do they try to take and steal all your land and resources like in Civilization series (instead of colonising their surroundings) ?
AI isnt working right now, so they do nothing effectively. Its basically just single player, like playing banished.

This game does have single player as well.
And yes, you can play it as a sandbox type game.
The current AI doesn't do much, and will need some work before Early Access Release.
My plan for Early Access Release is to have AI that you can interact (trade etc.) with.
But it won't be powerful and you won't have to worry about the AI crushing you.
I do plan to improve AI to make them a lot smarter during Early Access.
i know it is not the topic but.... can i ask if there will be a modkit ?
I will definitely add modkit during Early Access period.
It won't be out by the EA Release though (Oct 29).
Let's say one watch tower can have up to 3 soldiers and the players would just decide if he wants the veteran experienced soldiers near the center of the land or closer at the border.
And would decide which enemy watch tower to attack with how many soldiers from nearby towers.
That wouldn't be an RTS but a strategical fight for territory.
I found out about the game on a Torrent site, i Downloaded it and played it for quite a few hours tonight and I'm eager for it's EA Release and future, it's got a lot of potential and was quite fun.
Will definitely be picking this up when it launches on EA
