Is there any real reason to do the quest on a first run through?

This quest is not playthrough-long and at some point you'll be able to open all the chests you missed, so It's not a big deal. If you don't want to wait you can open them, but you will only be able to get a normal ending then.

so, to get the "true" ending you have to do that quest (not opening chests before you get the holy sword)?
