Crossplay question
I have an oculus Rift and an oculus quest for my son. Is there a way for both of us to play on one account? I know the rift and quest versions are cross-buy, but its it possible to play them from the same account co-op?

The game looks fantastic, I just don't know if I want to buy it twice for the same household.

I'm in a similar situation with my dad however, based on my knowledge about the game and the way these headsets work in general. It would not be possible to run the game on the same account and even if you could when you go to invite your son it looks at your friends list and you obviously can't invite yourself. However if you are going to buy it twice buy it through the oculus store as I havent gotten the steam version to be able to play with my dad on oculus quest yet.

I know oculus store and steam don't share friend lists, but there are other VR games where you can create rooms with codes and I managed to run those well on one account (on oculus: racket nx, spaceteam, racket fury).
The steam version says it has local co-op and remote play together (which would be still require making a second steam account just to play the game).
I was hoping there would be a more elegant solution.

I think the local co-cop is only functional for the non vr mode. Also I have yet to find any way to invite people through codes into my room, the only thing I see is invite friends and it gives me my steam friends list sadly. But I'm not the developer so I could be wrong.

Hey shreddmusic - there is currently no way to play VR multiplayer on the same account. The game does support crossplay with Steam/Rift, however only through random online play (each device needs to cue at the same time and they will find each other). A drawback of this will be that VOIP doesn't work over random multiplayer, so we'd suggest sticking to the one platform if VOIP is important to you. Hope that helps.

Thanks for the quick response.
Does the game support VOIP with cross play between rift and quest? I see that the game is cross buy on the oculus store but I don't see the benefit of that, if it's only possible to play on one headset at a time for multiplayer.

The benefit is that you can buy it for your oculus rift but go out to a friends, take your quest and still be able to play the same game and demo to your friends. Atleast thats what I think. Also for voip you would have to do an oculus party in game voip might be a thing but I just did a party when I played with my dad.

Yep, voip works between quest and rift, provided it was an invite game (no VOIP support for random).

Cheers,

So if I'm interested in playing with fiends directly who have rifts and quests i should purchase on oculus home? to be clear, we will then be able to invite each other to games and have voip work.. as I understand.. correct? TIA!
