And i wanted to do some Singleplayer Maps so badly :'-(
Usualy i am quite good at fixing such problems, but i will need some starting point, as "Can't Find Steam App User Info" isn't telling me too much about about the problem, as i have touched the hammer editor only briefly for some hl2 experiments some years ago.
Anyway, should i find out if and how to fix that, i will post it here.
PS: this could be worth a try: https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=187235526
I can't be any plainer than the original post and only related thread I linked to. That's all you get when you try to run it.
I've been using HAMMER since before Valve, When it used to be called WorldCraft and was for all the Quake engine games, Believe me when I said I've tried everything.
I almost got the Hammer from the Source SDK 2013 to work with SiN Episodes, maybe the remaining problems with that version can be sorted out.
I got it to load maps and textures, yet the viewports (front, side, camera etc.) are pitchblack.
No error messages at all, which is good, but makes this one even thougher for me to figure out, as google does not give me much to work with on this specific problem.
Edit: ok, seems that this version of hammer is also broken as ♥♥♥♥, regarding to google.
So one of the versions included with source games could work out.
Textures where missing though, of course.
I then tried to copy the whole bin folder from HL2 over to the Sin SDK folder and completely replace the old one with it, and set Hammer up with the Sin Gameinfo.txt and .fgd file, with mixed success:
It works as far as loading maps and textures go, but the viewports are yet black again >.<
So in principle, all we have to do now is to figure out what it is that messes up the viewports and e voila, we can map for SiN Episodes Emergence yet again!
1. Create a new file SteamAppData.vdf
2. Place this text inside of it:
Excellent, this solution works like a charm an is easy too!
Thanks a lot Barnacle :)
Now it's time to do some proper Singleplayer maps :D
