I was super excited for the game, and while it was fun to see it more fleshed out, it left me more confused than anything.
The Adorable Army destroyed all of humanity, and yet Y has more of a reaction to being called awful on the radio than acknowledging she caused the apocalypse. I really expected Y to be the final boss, and the twist that she was "Mother" all along guiding us pre-mutation through the audio tapes.
Overall there doesn't seem to be a point, outside of plugging Gori 2. And unless we get some serious combat overhauls ala DMC series evolution, I think Gori has reached its endpoint of fun with the gameplay foundation it offers.
Gori's storie isn't a simple excuse to kill things, they clearly actualy tried to do something more, the problem is that what they wrote ends up feeling very unsatisfying as the ending pretty much tells us that what we did basically didn't matter
Valid question! Just out of interest, did you save all the unicorns behind the key doors?
Or are there more key doors hidden outside the spaceship?
Look, the real problem that I have with the ending is the fact that Y leaves the ship as soon as you get back to it, like GORI's motivation in the story revolves around her, so she leaving just after we saved her feels terrible
In my opinion, a better way to handle the ending would be to have Y go to her room instead of teleporting to who knows where, then when we get acces to her room, have Y explain what's going on instead of F.R.A.N.K. and then have her STAY in there getting things ready for the next adventure
If so, that's a bizarre way to end it. Its a good game, but...man. Makes you wonder how far down Gori 2 is in the developer pipeline.
Even if it is one, it could have been better executed
The game is carried massively by the very fun gameplay, a sequel expanding on this would obviously be great, it's just if it can hold the fun value on a bigger scale than feeling flat after a while, maybe it's strength was its length. A twist of Y being the evil one or at least a small cliffhanger than o boy we got mega work to do would of sufficed in my opinion.
