Since I'm nowhere near as good at The Fabled Lands Books as I used to be would using The Games Explorer Mode rules make the books easy enough for someone that's nowhere near as good as he used to be to once again enjoy them
Also I apologise about all the times I've changed things in the last 10 or so minutes, I keep spotting 1 or 2 mistakes, correcting it/them, saving the changes then spotting 1 or 2 mistakes I missed and its happened a few times.
If you ever do A Version of Book 7 what do you think of my idea that if you play on Explorer Mode then you will start with you a initial Nahual of 1?
I know that its classed as A Title not A Stat but you've already made quite a few changes, roughly 76% of the changes are, in my opinion, very good changes and even those that aren't very good changes are still good changes
The reason that I think that playing on Explorer Mode giving you a initial Nahual of 1 is a very good idea is because I think that it will make the hardest, in my opinion, book in the series easier for people that haven't played Book 7
This would also help people like me who are big fans of the books and were once veterans but haven't played the books for so long that if they started in Book 7 they may find the difficulty a bit too high
I know this questions about The Books not The Game but I need advise for a friend. Can I please have Advise for A Friend whose doing A RPG Version of The Fabled Lands Books a friend of his made?
The only part of it that's A RPG is the part were you determine the history and background of your character and his or her families history and background and determine what, if any, extra stuff your character gets from either his personal history and background or his families the history and background or from both sources
He rolled to determine the background and history of his, meaning my friend, character and her, meaning my friends character, family
His character ended up with A Very Wealthy multi-millionaire Spice Merchant for A Father and despite being his fathers only daughter and the 2nd youngest of her fathers 5 children she got a massive inheritance
Further rolls show that this means his character started with 4D6x10x50,000 or 6 +5 +2 +4 x10,000 or 170,000 Shards
My friend can choose what he wants his character to have from anything that’s not unique but in a lot of case’s if the books don’t make it clear that something is are unique then The RPG treats it/them as if they aren’t unique
What’s more you don’t have to spend all or even more of your cash on belongings. You can advance buy blessings, purchase boosts stats, stamina and even Nahual but sadly not Rank, start with Circles of Bokh Mastery but not Influence in Aku’s Court of Hidden Faces, you can buy properties and you can even get Mithrals by arranging to have things sold, on your behalf, at The Trau Market at Hoggarts Corner
1 example of something that because The Books don’t clearly state that its unique so The RPG treats it as not being unique is that you can only make 1 Crystal Knife because theirs only 1 Blue Crystal Shard in Book 7 but nothing in Book 7 says The Crystal Knife is unique and that’s why this RPG treats The Crystal Knive as if it isn’t unique
In the end my friend has his character start with the following and several of them cost a lot more then they do in the books
1 +2 Combat Crystal Knife that can be used in Spirit Combat for 40,000 Shards
1 suit of +4 Defence Crocodile Hide Armour that can be used in Spirit Combat for 40,000 Shards
1 +6 Combat Sword for 8,000 Shards
1 +5 Magic Celestium Wand for 8,000 Shards
1 +3 Thievery Pair of Gloves of Sig for 2,500 Shards
1 +3 Sancitity Gold Holy Symbol for 2,500 Shards
1 +3 Scouting Sextant for 2,500 Shards
1 +3 Charisma Centaur Flute for 2,500 Shards
Increase his characters initial stats by +3 to 4 stats of his choice and +2 the other 2 stats for 25,000 Shards
As he's using A Mage his characters stat boosts will be +3 Charisma, +3 Combat, +2 Magic, +3 Sancitity, +2 Scouting and +3 Thievery
That gives his character A Base Sancitity of 4, add in The Boost from The Gold Holy Symbol means that when rolling for Sancitity I roll 2D6+7
At a cost of 10,000 Shards his character starts with A Nahual Value but my characters initial Nahual value is only(?) 1
1 Galleon with A Excellent Crew, 1 unit of Furs and 1 unit of Textiles docked at Dunpala for 4,000 Shards +another 2,000 Shards to give it the facilities to store up to 3D6+1D3 or 16+2 or 18 items onboard
1 Galleon with A Excellent Crew, 1 unit of Furs and 1 unit of Textiles docked at Dunpala for 4,000 Shards +another 2,000 Shards to give it the facilities to store up to 3D6+1D3 or 12+3 or 15 items onboard
He spends another 2,500 Shards and that lets his character start with A Vilia in Chambara
1 Lantern for 500 Shards
There are a few times in Book 5 were Bokh is useful and if they ever get released their may be a few times in Books 8 to 12 were Bokh is useful. That’s why he's spending 10,000 Shards to have his character start with 1D2 or 2 Circles of Bokh Mastery
As cash is always useful he's having his character keep 3,000 Shards, he's using 600 Shards to arrange to have sold, on his characters behalf, 6D3+3 or 18 Four Leaf CIovers at The Tray Market at Hoggarts Corner and use the other 400 Shards to arrange to have sold. again on his characters behalf, 4D3+2 or 11 Boar Tusks at The Trau Market at Hoggarts Corner
All in all because my friend will have his character start in Book 7 when it comes to cash his character start with 3,000 +20 or 3,020 Shards and 20x18 +15x11 or 360+165 or 525 Mithrals
Ooops I forgot to say that the advise I wanted is if you think my friend should use this character or not
Also about the mistake in the paragraph you quoted, my friend E-Mailed the question he wanted me to ask, I pasted and copied it onto this site, in his E-Mail he put my character, I thought I'd changed all of them to his character but somehow missed that 1
The reason I think he shouldn't use this character is because I'm worried that this character is so powerful that she'll make a lot of early quests so easy that my friend won't enjoy the books as much as he would with a normal character. What do you think?
In Book 3 if you join The Pirates make it possible to buy the freedoms of your crew
In Book 3 have it very hard but not impossible to learn that having A Spectral Veil makes it very easy to encounter Spectres and survive
In Book 5 I would make it so that like in the books you can only acquire 3 Circles of Bokh Mastery but I'd would change it so that its easier to acquire them
In Book 6 drop hints that The Ruler has always wanted to hear A Human Version of The Song of The Mermaids, this makes it easier to get The Title Senior Court Official
In Book 6 make it possible to find out how to kill Big Boy The Giant without a fight
Your welcome and thanks for the quick reply
I've just noticed that I forgot to mention that the changes I suggested are intended to make the game easy enough that people that haven't played the books that want to play on normal mode will enjoy the game without it being too easy
