Translation plans in future?

Watched game on youtube and writing and art looks stunning but my english skills are not high enough to enjoy it 100% at the time. Is there any hope to see the translation of the game? Thank you

Hey, Dorama Lover, glad to hear you are looking forward to the Fabled Lands! Also, apologize for my delayed response but I wanted to approach the localization topic in a detailed matter so I can pin the post for everyone else.

The game is narrative-rich which means a lot of text that would need to be localized to other languages/regions. The game already has 200 000 words as of today! This is way bigger than most indie titles.

Thus, I am hesitant to say anything concrete on that front for now. I will see how the game is accepted by fans at the time of the release in English and assess afterwards whether localization would be financially feasible.

The light of hope I have is that the books were already published in other languages. For example, German, French and Italian. However, not all books were published or are yet to be translated. I need books 1, 2, 4 and 5 at the very basis, with portions of book 3. On other hand obtaining translation rights from publishers/translators depending on country can also be difficult to make a reality.

Even if I have all the text done and ready, it is still a hefty task for a single person to do, as the text is not just copy/pasted but programmed and implemented in order to be parsed and automated through a scripting language called Ink by Inkle.

So, the best way to indicate your interest in localization is to wishlist the game.

I will be monitoring country/regional level wishlists to help assess whether enough people are indeed interested.
