Oh god the intro never ends
First a long intro.
Then finally 3D rendering, oh wait, no, it's another intro, with a little bit of interaction.
Game yet?
Oh, no, it's more "intro", but a one on one dialogue.

Far, far too long to get to anything, and far too angsty.

Looks pretty though.

I've been playing a lot of demos over the last few days, and I've been skipping the intro for all of them. Skipping the dialogue, cutscenes, anything that isn't gameplay. Most text in games, even indie games focused on storytelling, is just expositional filler.

But I happily watched every bit of this story, because it was written with subtext and personality and purpose. Even the tutorial stuff. Can't wait for the full game.
I played through the demo once, but I think I might go back and play through and see if it'll let me experiment with some of the flower patterns or making some more tea. I dunno if it'll let us do that. O,o lol :) /hope !

You can goof around as much as you want up until you would normally be allowed to but the demo stops. You can only water plants so much though so sooner or later you do run out of seeds...or at least it wouldnt let me water anything anymore. Maybe I coulda afk'd for time passage or something but kinda doubt it.

Im still debating if I want to get the game on release. Alta just makes me want to strangle the character herself to death and hope another main character wanders on screen that is less annoying.

Same here, I felt the beginning movie was way too long and angsty, but at the same time way too short for me to feel any kind of emotional connection to the character and her struggles, so the whole intro I just felt bored.

Also, the whole "sword is too heavy" felt way too on the nose, really lacking in storytelling

It's fun to see someone complaining about the intro length in a game with the obvious message of sitting back, relax and enjoy without rushing. I'm pretty sure you did not get that

The thing is you gotta do it well. And the people who are stressed and need are impatient. So you need to lean into it slowly. It would be like one telling someone to meditate after an accident :D Can't go from lvl 0 to lvl 100 in one go. And how long is the best? One could say it could be 20 minutes longer intro. So it is a hard balance. Personally all the dialogue made it too annoying for me

Then I guess It depends on the player since im myself going through so much lately and happily enjoyed the demo. The message reached out
To people who thought the demo was too railroad-y: did you do anything with the mushrooms? Did you give Alta any tea?
