Manual saves, really?

This is 2020, I don't care that it's an 8-bit nostalgia game, having a strictly manual save system that the game (which doesn't really require to pause once) never warns you about while also lulling you into thinking it'll do it for you - by respawning you instantly when you die instead of suggesting to LOAD A SAVE - is straight up bad design.
It wouldn't be a problem if the game didn't manage to crash on a gaming PC, which is impressive in itself.
If you can't code an auto save, put a warning about it on the main menu.

Can't comment on the crashing—only had it happened once. No auto-save won't really kill the flow of this kind of game. Just keeping in mind all other Metroidvanias, it's a step up as you control where you save, instead of having to hunt down the saving room. In that sense, it's a quality of life upgrade.

The Manual save can come in handy sometimes, honestly. If you are gonna go somewhere far away, unsure if there was a point to doing it, save first. If you get to your destination without any results, just reload your save instead of walking back.

Any game with an auto-save explicit tells you up front that it does it, and usually warns you not to turn off while it's happening. The fact you never got that warning should have been a clue that this game wasn't going to hold your hand and do your work for you. The design is fine, you need to get better.

ah back in the days when you had a password to manage ♥
and it would be case sencitive so either ot was a O,o or 0 you probably just cursed for not typing it back down better ;)
i mean who knows wheither it is a capital O or a latter o or the number zero 0.
and if it is one of them three you can try all combos and if you have more than 3 o's then it is just to give up :P

this game is perfect even its bugs and glitches are a compleet masterpice!
so is the save option IMO

Well, good news. The game now has auto saves, so two months later, you can play without worrying about losing progress, OP. (As well as anyone else who wanted autosaves.)
