Camera movement
The camera movement in the game is so wonky that it makes it hard to really enjoy the game. When trying to turn the camera it just kind of spins out of control and usually ends up at the same angle where it starts. It's like the sensitivity is set crazy high and it's making me dizzy watching it fly all over the place. Also after entering the cow field next to the chickens the camera position gets locked with no way of turning the camera which seems really odd. I would normally have explored and given finding the laundry a try myself without asking Ethan, but due to the camera movements I just gave up on that idea straight away and just followed him from one to the next.

Thanks for the reply. Very first scene, as soon as I start the game.
Fixed in v1.5. Let me know if it's still an issue!

Okay so I cut out a couple of examples from a video I was recording that shows what I mean with the camera movement not being anywhere near ideal: https://youtu.be/JVfeon_bpHE

Would really just like to know if there's a fix coming for it, because I gave up playing the rest of the game due to this issue.

Hi, are you playing with a controller or mouse/ keyboard? This issue does not occur on my end so I'm not sure what the reason is.

I'm playing with mouse and keyboard. The issue occurs both when I use the mouse and when I use the keyboard to move the camera. Not sure what causes it, but I've seen some reviewers mention the same problem too.

The mouse sensitivity is normal when moving the cursor in the main menu, but it feels like the mouse sensitivity is way too high when moving the camera with the mouse. It doesn't matter if I press CTRL or hold the middle mouse button - the second I make the slightest movement with the mouse the camera moves way too fast to be able to control it properly. Maybe if you could add a mouse sensitivity bar to the in-game controls menu so those of us affected by this can adjust the sensitivity it might fix the problem.

An attempted fix is on the way, should be up in an hour

Thank you for taking the time to try and fix it. Hope it works!! 🤞🤞🤞

No worries! I've just uploaded a patch with an attempted fix. I've only applied it to the camera at that spot where you recorded the video (near Ethan's house/ kids playing football) Try loading up that save/ checking the camera in that area and let me know if there has been any improvement at all!

It worked! The camera now moves slowly and controlled as it should. I tried walking and running around in the area between the chickens and the kids playing football and it's so much better now!
Is the camera supposed to be stuck at one angle when entering the cow field from where the chickens are? There is no way of rotating the camera while out in the fields which seems a bit odd that you can't turn the camera to see where you're going when going back to get a chicken. And also when going for the piece of laundry from a tree down to the right along the field, you can't see anything for trees blocking your view until you get to the tree because the camera is stuck and not rotatable.

Great to hear it's working better now! Is it possible to upload a video of how the new camera looks? That will allow me to improve/ fine tune it if it's a bit slow/ fast.

Secondly, do you remember which other spots the camera spun too quickly in before? (Or if you have a playthrough, I could check that as well)

I haven't implemented this new camera in other locations yet, and since I can't recreate the spinning issue here, I'll be applying this fix a little blindly, if that makes sense. If you do stumble upon more of these spinning cameras, let me know as that will make it a bit easier for me :) (Even if you aren't able to, I'll try replicating this fix across the game and will upload it asap - probably in a few hours)

For the fields camera, there's a couple of reasons why it can't be rotated: one is that I wanted the camera to be lower so that you can see far across the fields and the blue skies when running in the fields. But this also reveals a lot of incomplete areas of the map. So to avoid showing that, the camera is locked and is also pointed at the fields for aesthetic reasons. I shall now unlock that rotation and fill in the rest of the map to avoid that issue.

The trees blocking the view can be avoided by just moving the player a little away from them, but now the unlocked rotation should also solve the problem. There is another possible solution that makes the trees invisible, but that will take me some time to implement.

Sorry for the long wall of text, but hope that makes sense, and hopefully this fix and the upcoming fix as well help!

[Edit: I've now noticed that applying this fix makes camera move extremely slowly with the right stick when using the controller. I'll not be applying the fix to other cameras until a fix for controllers is found]

Unfortunately the camera wonkyness is kind of a general issue for the game at any point where there's free rotation at least up to the point that I've played (finished the laundry quest). I posted 2 videos of the game and then I recorded a third one (which is where the 2 clips above is from) but I didn't post that yet as I was hoping for a fix, so I could re-record that third video before posting it on Youtube. The camera wonkyness was more noticeable in the last one, because you move around the area more once you arrive at the child hood home. I did notice it a bit on the street in the beginning of the game where you are walking around to fix the scooter. Also when walking around to explore the inside of Ethan's house.

First video: https://youtu.be/tfT1D7ndC0Y Not really any issues that I recall until about 26 min in and the last few minutes of it.

Second video: https://youtu.be/IICUaO3Q-pM Kind of generally shows the wonky camera both before and after the ride to the child hood home.

I made a quick little recording of the improved camera: https://youtu.be/Yp-avJVoP_0 It's SO much better now!

Argh that's bummer! Hope you can find a solution so the fix can stay without impacting controllers negatively!

Thank you for recording the video! :) Do you think it is too slow or heavy, should it be made slightly quicker, or is it fine the way it is?

Great. I'll leave it at this setting, and will attempt to fix the controller issue as well within a day so that the fixed camera patch can be up in a day or two. Thanks for all the help!

I'll cross my fingers and hope you can fix the controller issue and look forward to hopefully soon be able to enjoy the rest of the game! Thanx for taking time out of your weekend to work on the game! Hope you also take some time to relax!
