Really glad to hear that :) Thanks!

There is a Linux version of the demo. Unfortunately it is running very bad for me. Everything is black, with the actual image just flickering up every once in a while. The background of the title menu also looks mostly black.

I'm sorry to hear that - I don't have a Linux machine so I was unable to test it out myself. Thanks for letting me know! Is your Linux 32bit or 64?

I have this issue as well. 64 Bit for me.

Looking into this, will keep you updated.

I wonder if it is a graphics driver issue? It ran relatively well for me, though movement is awkward.

Ubuntu 18.04 64-bit | Ryzen 5 1500x | GTX 1050, nvidia-440.82

Hey, is this the issue? https://www.ctrl.blog/entry/glibc225-unity-black-screen.html

Sorry to have to ask for your help on this, but I don't know anyone else with Linux that I could cross check with!

Can you also send over an image that shows this issue?
Thanks!

No worries, I don't mind helping out. I tried to follow their instructions but either it didn't work or I am doing it wrong. Here are a couple images:

I tried to run the demo on my laptop but it just goes to a black screen and crashes. It is low end and doesn't meet the system requirements most likely. Here are the laptop specs:

Lenovo T61:

Intel Core2 Duo T7300 @ 2.00 GHz | 4GB DDR2-667 RAM | Nvidia Quadro NVS 140M | Mesa 18.0.5 | Samsung 850 Evo 250GB | Trisquel 8.0 | Mate 1.12.2 | Kernel 4.4.0-184-generic | 1440*900 @ 60hz

I'll keep digging on my end and seeing if I can test it on another system that doesn't use AMD graphics to see if I can narrow the issue down.

You're using an Nvidia GPU and i'm using an AMD GPU so a GPU driver issue is likely.

Thank you so much for helping out! It may take me a while to respond here as I'm a little caught up with the campaign and the Fest, but I'll keep checking in and implement the solution as soon as we can find one!

I dont think this is related either but try this out - https://steamcommunity.com/app/650220/discussions/0/1471967529575193564/

I tried adding the resolution bit to the launch options for the game but the issue remains. I also tested the game on an Nvidia GPU using the closed source drivers and it had zero of the flickering issues and it was much brighter. This confirms it's an issue Unity has with the open source Mesa driver. I also tested on the Nvidia GT730 using the open source Mesa driver and it indeed had the flickering and darker image.

Here is a screenshot using the closed source driver on the Nvidia card:

System used that worked:

AMD FX-6100 | 16GB DDR3-1333 CL | EVGA GT 730 1GB | Nvidia 440.59 | Linux Mint 19.3 64

It seems the options at the moment would be to try to raise the issue with Unity to see if it is related with any of the issues you have found or something else and then either wait for a fix or just flat out say in the system requirements that GPUs using the Mesa driver can't be supported at this time. As long as you're up front with Linux gamers many will understand and who knows maybe this gets fixed soon.

As an aside long term this is why I would suggest using open source graphics engines such as Godot. I know you're already way past that for this game but going forward the reason I make the suggestion is when issues pop up anybody in the community can try to fix the issue where here we're stuck waiting on Unity to fix it.

Whichever way you decide to go the effort is appreciated.

Thanks for taking all the time to dig into this issue! :)

For this moment I'll highlight the supported driver in the system requirements, and also raise an issue with Unity. During dev I'll try to figure this out in more depth and see if there could be a fix from my end.
