How Nightmare works?

I see there is a currency at the top right of the screen and it runs down as I progress through stages. How does that work and how do I refill it?

The Lucid point can be treated as a count down, it will keep running down as the game time goes, and when you are attacked by the nightmare creatures you will also lose lucid points.

You can refill some of them when you interact with the sword before the boss fight. Or when you get enough upgrades in the stone tablet you will have more way to gain them, and reduce the speed of losing it.

To make more upgrade, you will need the yellow souls which will only be obtainable by open the chest after each boss fight. So farm some, make some upgrade, your run will be more easy.
