Have you tried the game? Just want to make sure since we have seen a difference in feedback here for players who have and players who have watched let's plays etc. It is not a gimmic and it is not purely an animation, it's core to the game since every bullet needs to be reloaded manually. What we have seen is that feedback from people who has watched the game and people who has played the game is entirely split, meaning players who have watched find it distracting and want to disable it, people who have played seem to love it and didn't find it distracting.
We are not going to remove this feature since it's core to the game, we are however considering adding a slider to options to adjust the scale of it. However if you haven't yet played it I think you should give it a play before determining your standpoint on it.
I didn't ask you to remove your precious gimmick, just to make the annoying animation part optional.
And you should listen to feedback, not only treat people who agree with you as actual players with valid opinions.
We are considering adding a slider to the options menu where you can change the scale of the animation since we are concerned removing it could make the reload confusing. This way those who want can have it take up less screenspace while the default being as is.
And yes you are correct the reticule also shows it but it is very easy to miss in full on combat and therefor the concern about removing it altogether.
I want to say thank you for giving us this option to auto reload for those that need the accessibility feature.
My man you need to ease up a bit, coming off as hostile and more interested in flinging insults than giving meaningful feedback isn't a smart way to get what you want.
The dev seems like a genuinely nice guy. Speaking of, they are humans too, not just faceless entities, being polite and giving your feedback in a way that doesn't make it sound like you're being a tool for no good reason, is a much better way to get your point across and very possibly even get what you want in return.
Plus he's already stated multiple times that he's looking into a way to make it more optional for people that don't enjoy it, which you seem to have entirely ignored.
Absolutely. Even though the game is absolutely designed for the manual reload not everyone can play like that so we felt it natural to have a way for everyone to enjoy it.
Remapping is the next big thing on the list to help with this... It's just soooo much work :D One of those features that one thinks would be a lot easier and faster to implement than it really is sadly.
That is not nice, and politeness goes both ways.
Also, you make a lot of personal attacks and deliberate diminishing for someone saying we should be so respectful and mindful that people are people.
I was agreeing with doing that and adding that it should go all the way to disabled because they are still stuck on seeing it. They're the one that called me out as not having a valid opinion because "only people who haven't played think that", which is patently false and just an ugly tack to take.
And jeez, it's one thing to be stuck on your gimmick, but it's another to act like we are too stupid to look at the reticle or count instead of staring at the giant cartoon gun chamber. Tap-until-reloaded already requires way less attention and presence than randomized active reload (eg Synthatik), and that somehow manages to survive without giant cartoon gun animations.
So, is it a gimmick you need to present to validate yourselves, or do you support people who may want to play more mindfully, without the animation? Because you justify it like you think tap-until-reloaded is mindful play, but then you won't let us take this obvious step toward more mindful play. Why, exactly, can we not be trusted to make our own informed choices?
Does it really matter? That's still what they did, and it's still ugly. You can ask whether someone played (if such mistrust and condescension is really necessary on something that should be so obvious some people won't like) without informing them how everyone who bothers to play and form a real opinion agrees with the dev and how if you should actually take the time to do that, you will too.
And Dev, just a couple days ago someone was attacking me for having the gall to criticize indie devs' nextfest games, especially in a forum where some were known to be around and might see it. Multiple people agreed the only right thing to do is effuse over what you find positive and move on, out of respect for their efforts (I disagree that's actually respect, but the validity of the view isn't the point). If you think you are getting genuinely honest and complete feedback, you are fooling yourself, and you shouldn't take that so far as to treat people like they have to prove they have valid opinions if they aren't following the party line.
Thanks for your feedback. We will look into it.
