Oh cool -- my folks live near the old Mississipian-imitating Oneota site of Aztalan, I think this inclusion is just neat. It was the N. American society that (arguably) most closely resembled some of the more urbanized cultures further south, but it was plagued by, well, plague. For more information consult your local wikipedia:

Mississippians are an amazing civ pick for Civ VII. Always wanted them also in Age of Empires 2, though I haven't been lucky so far. Civ VII looks to be an amazing addition to the Civ family with those civ picks.
