Linking Settlers to Combat Units
Why can't we link settlers to combat units in VII? That was so helpful in VI; you could link them and send them to their destination and forget about them until they arrived, avoiding having to micromanage having a combat unit near your traveling settler to avoid being captured by barbarians. Some of the things you've taken away in VII are simple but were great ideas in VI. Why?

This! It's so hard to keep settlers together with a military unit when the settler has more moves anyways. Just let me glue them together.

Worked very well in the past so why not now?

Yes, the removal of this feature is very annoying. Especially now that the game does absolutely nothing to inform the player when their units get attacked or die half the time.
Yeah, not being able to form an escort is so annoying. Also, let me assign an escort to the Army Leader. Nothing worse than deploying your Army and he ends up in an exposed position by himself and gets ganked. Providing an escort should have been a no-brainer--I mean, just look at the stuff that worked in other Civ titles--sure you're revamping the game, but you don't have to ditch EVERYTHING.
