Black screen

Im using a MacBook Air M3 and after the newest update when i launch the game after the first cutscene there is a black screen. I verified the files from steam i have the newest ios update and the game was launching normally before. Is this a new bug or should i do something about it ?

Is there sound? Also what happens if you leave the black screen for awhile?

Me too, but maybe deeper (or less - however you look at it).
NO cutscenes. No ANYTHING. iT'S BLACK SCREEN, HAS A CURSOR... THAT'S IT.

Same here since the last update. Just the cursor and the exit menu if I try to close Civ

Same here - please someone respond! I've done basically every imaginable thing to fix and nothing works.

Same. Black screen with cycling cursor, disk light going crazy, then crashes with "submit crash report Yes/No" popup. Only had game for a short time but 50+ hrs in it was working fine, then new patch, now dead. Tried everything i could find on "Civ7 crashing" on web/forums for 2 days now, no difference.

If only there was a way to uninstall game patches, but uninstalling/reinstalling game will simply install latest version with this update.

I have the same issue.

Downloaded latest update and the game launches normally, plays through the intro cut scene and then loads to a black screen where the main screen should be. Just a cursor, black screen and music playing.

I went through every suggested fix, updating drivers, verifying game integrity, clean booting, removing mods, uninstalling the game, uninstalling steam, sfc about a million times. 2k support keeps saying its a "deep issue" with my computer.

I don't buy it as I can play every other game on my system including CIV VI without issue. I cannot believe that I bought the founders edition and cant even play the freaking game.

+1 Nail, head. Guess I'll just uninstall it, set a date for 2027 some time, come back and see if it's any better.

I am on a PC with Windows 11. When I had a similar problem, I uninstalled both Civ VII and the CivMods Manager. Then I deleted the folder User/AppLocal/Firaxis Games/Sid Meier's Civilization VII (I had tried earlier the same process without deleting that folder without success). After re-installing, everything worked again. Added in Edit: I use Vulcan, I never had much luck with DX12 in Civ 6 or Civ 7.

Same issue for me. game loads, intro plays, then a black screen with cursor. my solution was to hit the tilde button where I see "Move V Debug V Output >" I type "start" then hit enter. The game continues to load. At this point you can hit tilde again for it to disappear. Unfortunately it loads into the antiquity age where the leader, nation, and every other option are randomly selected. In other words, it skips the main menu. You can restart until you find a combo you like. The game will move to the discovery & modern ages. Each time you move to another age, the game hangs up, black screen, and you have to hit tilde, type start and the game continues into the new age. Albeit, with a random nation. I can play the game, at least. I even subscribed to many addons with out any issue. hope this helps. I hope someone can take this a step further by figuring out how to get to the main menu.

Quite a saga: Spent 2 weeks back & forth with 2K Support, went through 4 support people, had already done everything they suggested but did it all again. Nothing worked.

2K REFUSED to acknowledge others were having similar issues & wouldn't look into their incident db to see how they might have been fixed for fresh ideas. Treated me as the ONLY person with a Civ7 crash problem!

In the end, they washed their hands of the problem & told me to go to Microsoft Support as the issue was "too deep". As you can guess, MS not interested in a game problem when everything else on PC works fine.

Went back to 2K, "sorry MS couldn't help but wish good luck to you". And they marked my ticket as SOLVED!! 🤬 🤬 🤬

So no Civ7... only options left are drastic: complete rebuild of PC or buy a new one & see if Civ7 works on that, but with no guarantee it will obviously. Just to play a Civ7 that was playing fine until their own June update...

All while every other app & game on my PC continues to work np...

Note: recent 1.2.3 patch did not fix issue. Oh, and it seems clicking Yes on the "Send crash report to Firaxis" is a waste of time as they told me they never get it...
