I believe something related to 2k's online services are causing issues.

Game worked fine on release and I played roughly 6 hours without any issue. Around the time I linked my 2k account to my Steam I started seeing the game freeze for 15-30 seconds at a time, every couple of minutes. I've tried a few different things with no luck (restart, verify, reinstall, etc.), and I came across this entry while reviewing the net_connection_debug.log looking for any insights.

[2025-02-25 09:16:45] Host: mqtt.push.api.2kcoretech.online port/service: wss. Websocket upgrade request send failed with error: 12002

The timestamp on each entry aligns with each freeze occurrence, and I've been able to replicate this every time now.

Earlier in the log, I also noted these lines. Specifically, I noted the file path terminating early, possibly caused by a space in the file name:

[2025-02-25 09:00:18] [Relay] : SetConnectionInfo commandline arg = "X:\SteamLibrary\steamapps\common\Sid [2025-02-25 09:00:18] [Relay] : Could not find the relay server commandline option.

I think whatever is causing these freezes for me is related to these errors, and my guess is the space in the file name is contributing in some way, but I'm no developer.

I'll submit what I've found so far in a ticket, but I'm not sure where to go from here.

Played for 6 hours, then the game crashed and won’t launch. Now every time I launch it crashes the second the first screen comes up.

OS: macOS Sequoia 15.3.1
CPU: M4 (10 cores)
GPU: M4 (10 cores)
RAM: 32GB
Available Storage: 1.7TB
Driver Version: N/A

Figured it out on Mac (following what the Windows fix was & the dump Mac dump log:) )...
Click on Launchpad and start Terminal
cd /Users
ls (this is to get a list of the folders)
cd CSlug (instead of CSlug type your username folder)
cd Library
cd Application\ Support
cd Civilization\ VII
sudo rm LegalDocument.cache

It'll ask for your Mac password.

I played this game for like a whole day. Then a few days later came back to it and it was crashing upong launching every time. I searched the web for solutions. Found your post. First few tries didn't work but final got your instructions correct and by goly it worked. Thank you!

These past two days, I switched back to playing Civ 7 on my desktop, but it keeps crashing and freezing randomly, and I can’t figure out why.
However, when I play on my laptop, it runs perfectly fine.
(The strange thing is that my desktop has higher-end hardware and software compared to my laptop.)
Has anyone else experienced a similar issue?

Here are my desktop specs:(Sometimes, I can complete a full game without issues, but more often, the game crashes at a certain turn. Reloading the game results in another crash within a minute.)

OS: Windows 11 24H2
CPU: 13th Gen Intel(R) Core(TM) i7-13700 2.10 GHz
GPU: NVIDIA RTX 4060
RAM: 32GB
Available Storage: 583GB (SSD)
Driver Version: 572.47

Here are my laptop specs:(It runs the game smoothly and has never crashed.)

OS: Windows 11 24H2
CPU: 13th Gen Intel(R) Core(TM) i5-1335U 1.30 GHz
GPU: Intel(R) Iris(R) Xe Graphics Family
RAM: 24GB
Available Storage: 282GB
Driver Version: 32.0.101.5768

Has anyone encountered a similar issue or knows how to fix this?
I really hope to play on my desktop.

I have a similar issue.

My freezes takes 1 minutes long then i can play for 1 minute until the next freeze. This happens like 5 times in a row then i can play for around 1 hour without any freeze.

Last lines in the log file after the first 1 minute freeze:
