Played for 6 hours, then the game crashed and won’t launch. Now every time I launch it crashes the second the first screen comes up.

OS: macOS Sequoia 15.3.1
CPU: M4 (10 cores)
GPU: M4 (10 cores)
RAM: 32GB
Available Storage: 1.7TB
Driver Version: N/A

Figured it out on Mac (following what the Windows fix was & the dump Mac dump log:) )...
Click on Launchpad and start Terminal
cd /Users
ls (this is to get a list of the folders)
cd CSlug (instead of CSlug type your username folder)
cd Library
cd Application\ Support
cd Civilization\ VII
sudo rm LegalDocument.cache

It'll ask for your Mac password.
OS: Windows 11 Home 64-bit
CPU: Intel Core i7-10750H
GPU: Intel UHD Graphics
RAM: 8GB
Available Storage: 31 GB
Driver Version: 30.0.101.2127

Played 14 hours with no real issues. Now the game crashes on every launch. All files verified. Drivers updated.
I don't know my specs but I have top of the line graphics card and tons of storage, game crashes when attempting to launch. Was fine 12 hours ago.

FYI if anyone else is having this issue was able to fix by following this method:
- go into Appdata\Local\Fraxis Games\Sid Meiers's Civilization VII and delete "LegalChoice.cache" and "LegalDocument.cache".
OS: macOS Sonoma 14.4.1
CPU: Apple M2 Max

If I use cmd-shift-4 to take a screenshot, Civ 7 buttons become unresponsive. I can still scroll around the map but I can't close dialogs, open the "next action", enter a city, etc. Sometimes it resolves on its own after I've been away in other windows for awhile.
Win 11
i5-13420H
16gb Ram
More than enough HDD space (SSD)
NVidia GeForce RTX3050
Driver 32.0.15.5599 (doesn't work with Vulkan or DX12)

Really really upset with this. Shouldn't release a game that obviously has this many basic bugs needing ironing out.
When I am in an alliance, and the ally declares war on the enemy, I choose to stand on the side of the ally. When I choose to join the war, I will always withdraw from the alliance by default.

I agree 100%. Also the fact that deleting legal cache files, or being offline, fixes it for some people makes me think it's anti piracy stuff keeping people from playing the game that they purchased legally.

Same issue as others: I open through the shortcut or through Steam, get a black screen with my PC's loading cursor, and then the program closes itself. Now I'm starting to see the Firaxis crash message even before my screen goes black. The odd part is that I was playing just fine yesterday.
So I did a thing to get the game to launch in english. I searched %appdata% went to Local, then Fraxis Games, Sid Meiers's Civilization VII and deleted "LegalChoice.cache" and "LegalDocument.cache". The game got stuck at a black screen, so I validated files through steam. The game has launched and I am playing my save file. I suspect I will have to do this every time I wish to play until they make the game playable again.
Played for a couple of hours earlier, now game won't start. Getting error then screen goes black, and I'm back in the Steam library...

this is where i found legalchoice & legaldocument files on windows. deleted these two files & it ran. they seem to be put back into the folder after starting up the second time. will check if they need to be deleted every time.

Just tried this myself, and it worked.
8 hours gametime flawless. Then one day starting game and it begins to crash and unable to start game. Just now ordered a complete new PC, will see if issue remains on new PC and will provide new specs if so.
