AI’s explorers stacking and following me?
In the last age, there seems to be a bug seeing a couple of explorers stacking together in the same tile. And most strangely is that they seem to be following me? Wherever my explorer was, they were in the same time no matter I was discovering the artifacts or digging.

And why aren’t there enough artifacts to be digged up? I missed 1 final artifact for success.

I noticed the same re stacking and following.
all digsites on the map are shared and you have better chances at getting artifacts if you have multiple explores stacked on top of each other
if one player reveals a digsite, it will be revealed for every player, first person that gets the artifact steals it for everyone
the AI is likely trying to go to the same dig sites as you and thats why it looks like they are following you
I'm not finding that having more than one stacked explorer improves chances to recover an artifact. It only takes one explorer to excavate and, so far, I have not been able to (1) enter a space occupied by a foreign explorer or (2) kill any foreign explorers. I can, however, move a military unit onto a dig site occupied by a stack of foreign explorers. Doing so has no effect other than co-occupancy of the space. These behaviors certainly seem abnormal.

exploreres can go anywhere, even on top of foreign explorers
multiple explorers can dig at the same dig site simultanously, each seem to have the same chance at finishing the digsite
so if you have 2 explorers digging at the same time, on average it appears you dig for half as long
and if you have 2 explorers digging and another AI has only 1, it appears your chance to beat the AI to the artifact is double the chance of the AI (66% vs 33%))

basicly the digsites become a question of who has more explores on them, the civ with the most explorers on the digsite has the highest chance of getting the artifact from the site

Your explorers are behaving differently than mine. I'll recheck the old save and report it as a bug if they do not behave as you have described. Thanks.
I rechecked my old save and my explorers will co-occupy spaces with foreign explorers, except when they are at war with the foreign Civ. I'm not sure if that makes sense or is intended, but it is so. Also, during war, explorers cannot be attacked as noted before.

Thank you for the information.
This seems to happen a lot during war when they are afraid to leave an island.
