Report a translation problem
if one player reveals a digsite, it will be revealed for every player, first person that gets the artifact steals it for everyone
the AI is likely trying to go to the same dig sites as you and thats why it looks like they are following you
multiple explorers can dig at the same dig site simultanously, each seem to have the same chance at finishing the digsite
so if you have 2 explorers digging at the same time, on average it appears you dig for half as long
and if you have 2 explorers digging and another AI has only 1, it appears your chance to beat the AI to the artifact is double the chance of the AI (66% vs 33%))
basicly the digsites become a question of who has more explores on them, the civ with the most explorers on the digsite has the highest chance of getting the artifact from the site
