Cannot Save my progress in Games
I get an error message every time I try to save my progress. Auto-save doesn't work. I don't have any Windows Defender Prompts to give CIV VII access to saves.

What am I supposed to do? I'm glad that the game isn't crashing every minute anymore, but now it's 1 step forward and 1 step back with this problem...

Has anyone found out how to fix this issue?

No, but I figured that it's related to network folders or virtual drives. Civ 7 stores saves in documents folder and I moved my documents folder to a network drive. No other game has problems with it... just Civ 7

Same here, but I fixed it. Check that you have a \My Games folder under documents. Then in \Documents\My Games create a folder called "Sid Meier's Civilization VII". It seems that the install process sometimes doesnt create the game data folder. Worked for me.

I'll try this out, thanks!

It didn't work :(... I hope Firaxis fixes this soon... The game is too fun but literally unplayable without saves...

It worked !!! Thank you for the information. I couldn't get it the first time because I had placed the "Sid Meier's Civilization VII" folder in the a duplicate \Documents\My Games\Sid Meier's VII on a Drive that my Steam wasn't using... Your method completely fixed my problem. Thanks Again.

Ive tried the options here, still doesn't work. I have networked my docs as well so assuming that is part of issue.

I did find that I can save my game under cross play save, so will try that for time being.
I'm getting the same issue. However, I checked and I do have the folder there but nothing is saving. I get the error when I manually save and auto-saves are not working either. I do have the game installed on a different drive from my C drive but that shouldn't matter.

EDIT: i went back into the game and selected the crossplay option and started a game then saved before doing anything. that save worked as I see it in the crossplay list if I go to load one. I do not see the save in the "documents/civ 7 folder" on my c drive though.

I tried the above, deleting the folder in "documents" on my c drive and adding it back however local saves still to not work.

A new folder didn't work for me either, but saving it under crossplay works for me. It is a bit complicated for people who don't come to this forum, but for me it worked. Had to make a 2K account, but as long 2K doesn't start spamming me, it is okay by me.

there is another thread about this. problem is with windows defender blocking the game. fix is in that thread.
It might also be a weird OneDrive issue. Make sure that you select your My Games folder and tell it "Always on this device"
I have a laptop and desktop. the security setting worked on the desktop but not the laptop.

Thank you, I solved it by adding a "Sid Meier's Civilizations VII" folder in the "My Games" folder

Seems to be a lot of different ways to fix "it". At least it's fixed, enjoy!

Which thread is that? I still am having the issue... and there is a CIV7 saved folder within My Games...
