It happened with me with The Gardens, with The Basilica, with whatever i had built, and from what I can tell the less hammers (production) I spent on it the more gold I need to pay obviously, and so the less gold negative that I get, which logically should lead to the idea that basically there is a BUG wherein if you spent production on a building, indifferent what gold price it says it costs there in the purchase screen, you end up paying the full amount, plus, because of the way it manifests when you hit End Turn with negative gold (resetting you to 0 Gold the coming Turn no matter if you are at Negative 71 or Negative 256 and I guess indifferent of your Gold Generated Per Turn), so plus, that you going to also pay additionally that full turn of generated gold that you would of made.
So for me, the way I've been playing Civ Games until now is ruined. I need to basically stick with production until the end or just buy it from zero.
PS I noticed that when you purchase units you always pay the same price no matter if yo have any in que or not, so basically you can't "rush" units in CIV VII. Maybe the Purchasing Buildings Bug is connected to this.
