Should you build Warehouses in Cities / the Capital?
So far, I've been avoiding building Warehouse buildings in Cities unless there's an obvious source of Rural-only tiles (e.g. a long Navigable River), out of the fear that I could potentially run out of placement locations for non-Warehouse buildings since Warehouses cannot be Overbuilt. However, depending on how the early-game shakes out, I might not have any buildable "proper" buildings in the early-game, forcing me to either build warehouses or spam units.

What about you; do you build Warehouses in Cities, or do you attempt to build only Urban buildings if you can get away with it?

if there is a reason, if there is in that city lots of farms, woodcutters etc. or if i want to expand quickly to some direction.

Pretty much this.:steamthis:

I had some of the same thoughts as the OP a while ago but have come to the conclusion that if you have multiple rural tiles that can be taken advantage of by the Warehouse building then do it and the earlier the better.

This is especially true in the capital where you want to take advantage of your Palace adjacency bonus and a saw pit or granary matched with an alter for example can net you some early bonuses.

As long as you pick proper city locations you should have room for at least the Warehouse buildings with the most impact which of course are the high production ones. Now that food has been buffed I can see the food Warehouse buildings gaining more value as well.

If you need more Wonder space just get more cities!:steamhappy:

If the warehouse district doesn't take away land that could be used more productively via adjacency bonuses or used for wonder placement, there's no other reason to avoid building them than opportunity cost of spending production on something else.
