Antiquity and Exploration age vs. Modern age
Is it just me, or do others lose interest when you get to the Modern age?

I'm wondering if it's because the jump from Exploration to Modern is too severe. Perhaps another age between the two would help ease the transition.

Not any more than in previous Civs. Far less so, actually.

Yes, general feedback is currently modern age is well pointless and a click fest

i think its just you.. i don't have any problems finishing the modern age.
I have little interest in the Modern Age, but it has nothing to do with the jump being too severe.

My issue is that if you maximize what you can do in the Exploration Age, the game is already over. It's the same exact problem of earlier Civ games despite everything they've attempted to change. I can fairly consistently complete at least two legacy paths, sometimes even three (sitting on relics and trade ships is a good tactic... hoarding them up, and only putting them into temples or using them in the homelands in the final few percentage points is often viable).

So, basically, my thought: the Modern Age is indeed a click-fest, but it's largely because the Exploration Age allows me to lock-in a rather substantial lead. The issue might be more the Exploration Age, not actually the Modern Age, IMO.

The severeness of the change, i think is about how you cultures synchronize, have you built alot of stuf that doesnt work anymore etc, not the age in question. And for sure modern has most problems, just did marathon modern in 95 turns, the cpu had 2 relics.. if i just want the accomplishment i do allways quick economic win and its just clicking and waiting..

i find the modern age to be especially tedious now
especially if you're already outpacing the opponents by the time you enter the age, its just a giant slog to build your wonder and win
I agree. The other two ages have some flavour but the modern age is rather a slog to the finish

I've seen several users claim the exploration age is most in need of polishing. Folks have been disappointed with relics and the hectic nature of exploring the world. This is something on an exception for a Civ since previously in the series exploration opening up the world and opportunities has been met more positively while the elements of end-game slog have always been there.

When I play a game, I play all 3 ages.
I don't lose interest but it is my least favourite era. I enjoy the early and exploration eras more perhaps because there is so much of the map left to explore and other cultures to meet. By the modern era, that's no longer a factor.

I'm not the biggest fan of war in the Civ franchise - other games do it far, far better than Civ as war in a particular era is their main focus, and I tend to find there's more war in the modern era than before and that slows down progress. It's definitely fun for a while but once I've 'won' the big war, I find the more I progress through the modern era, the more I just find myself wanting to complete my session and start a new one.

i think it has kind of allways been little like that, the game is coming to the end, not much to do and i think the one more turn feature (not the feeling) has to do with that, you know, you keep hitting those future sci and culture and looking at the game, not playing any more but not wanting the game to end :). I think what modern age needs is renaming to industrial age and another age after that, and the one more turn feature so you can let the game end at your own pace.
