Carthage is now my favorite antiquity civ
The collection is expensive, but overall each civilization is just a bit more than the DLC civs sold for Civ VI. It's not that simple to make direct comparisons because leaders and civs play so differently now. Just because a civ can only exist in one age, I don't think that should make them less valuable because they are more detailed both in terms of gameplay as well as aesthetics.

So many people complained about Britain, so that's playable now. But so is Carthage, and it's quite easily my favorite civ presently. Numidian Cavalry is almost OP, and I like how their towns have extra functionality and gains. The unique buildings are solid too, saves a lot of space to be have them on coast.

The only thing that is something of a letdown is the Byrsa wonder, but it's not that much worse than average antiquity wonders. I wish it too could be optionally built on the coast.

I played Aksum quite a lot previously, but with its improved settlers and infrastructure, Carthage really takes the number spot as the most expansionst civ of antiquity. I'm not actually sure if this is balanced, but the jury's still out on that one, I think...

The issue is that its 1) been less than a month since the game came out, 2) Civilizations only stick around for 1/3 of the game each, and 3) $30 DLC on an already $70 game.

Consider this: for $70, you get 31 Civs, 21 leaders, and the actual game. For about $30 (over 40% of the base cost of the game), you get... 4 more Civs and 2 leaders. Even if we did go by Civ 6 costs, that is usually $5 per Civ + Leader, which is half the cost of this and in that game, a Civ + Leader lasted the entire game, as opposed to Civ 7 where a Civilization lasts only 1/3 of the game.

The game is fun and I'm sure the content is fun, but this DLC is extremely over priced.

do you feel you're behind on techs and culture only having 1 city?
I wish I could just buy single civs/leaders

I agree 100% they are totally milking us, but the content looks interesting if grossly overpriced.

I'm still on the fence btw.

Not really. I had ample opportunity to build many wonders, even with coastal terrain I feel like I had a good shot at cultural legacy because of growth and production, but ultimately decided against it because many antiquity wonders are not that great. I didn't finish the entire civics tree but still got Philosophy. Tech was a bit harder, but I was focusing much more on culture and economy than science from narrative events and other bonuses. Your choice of leader can have a big impact here.

100% it should be less valuable, and 100$, i mean 100% its the reason its only 1 age.

you say it isnt because its your favourite and because its more detailed, so they make the "free" civs ♥♥♥♥ and these better/more enjoyable isnt good.

it isnt a good sign, also how this patch is fk all content and mostly p2wdlc, also isnt a good sign
on what speed are you playing pls?

More detailed than civilization of past games, I mean, not those of the base game. :captainsinful:

My antiquity favorites from the base game are probably Greece, in gameplay, and Egypt, in terms of aesthetics and flavor.

The only thing I'm kind of concerned of is Carthage's gameplay balance against Aksum since they are both naval and economy oriented, but the one-city restriction of Carthage is pretty limiting factor as well so it's on the fence.

Britain is nicely in line with other civs of modern age competing in same gameplay areas, like Mughal. And Ada Lovelace is just another cultural-scientific leader, we already have Catherine as well as Confucius when it comes to breaking the game with science or culture. :Owlcat_tongue:

Normal/standard settings. And I always play Terra Incognita.
Yeah, I agree, I played a game with them already and they are a lot of fun.
The variety of gameplays has never been as high, and I hope we keep getting more civs that break conventions.
Does anyone else have a bug where the Byrsa wonder is just randomly unlocked to build for any civ? I had that happen in 3 games now. Really weird since it should be unlocked with the civic from carthage early, oposed to the other civs. Instead at the start of the game its just buildable for everyone. Just curious.

Byrsa is unlocked by Sailing. All wonders associated with a particular civilization are available from tech or civic tree as well, not just the one civ's civics.

And the cost for a 2 hour movie is?....

Really tough to get all the relics, though. You have to build that wonder that gives you extra relic slots.

That's a lame comparison.. Movies can be seen for free on TV.

Relics only matter in the Discovery age no? so by that time you're no longer Carthage, you have the ability to create new cities again!
