when will we get Sid Meier's Civilization V remaster?
Do people really enjoy playing a Civilization game where their civ changes every time they progress to a new age? Based on reviews, it seems they don’t... I want to stay as american the whole game

Personally I prefer Japan in Civ 5 - but I would also buy a remaster. :Diplomat:

Yes, I do.

it's 50-50 at the moment.

Civ V is considered to be the very best Civ ever by a lot of folks who don't like Civ VII. If you really like Civ V, just play it and be happy. Nothing else matters.

Could there be a Civ V remaster in the future? I have no idea as I'm not a developer. I'm sure the idea has been floated and if they thought there was more money to be made from doing so than other projects, absolutely, they would. On the other hand, we haven't had a remaster of the earlier Civs.
I do

Absolutely enjoy it! Playing it daily.

Why don't you just play Civ V? What's wrong with it?

If one game could really do with a remaster, it's Civ 4.

Mechanically that game as it exists now is absolutely amazing and offers a whole lot more variation and depth that any of the last 3 Civilization games.

All that it really needs is a update to the base engine to work around some limitations it imposes in terms of memory management and the like, and opening the game up to be more modifiable graphically.

The community would then sort out the rest as it already is still doing and make Civ 4 with mods even more outstanding then it already is.

If I had to choose between a remaster of an old civ or civ 7 with major changes that address popular complaints, I would go with civ 7.

Firaxis significantly changing the underlining foundation of Civ 7 is never going to happen though.

It would set off those that enjoyed the game as it was and trigger a "This isn't the game you sold me that I gave you money for" meltdown.

Plus it would be seen as Firaxis essentially admitting that the game was inherently flawed at a core level and that they made bad decisions.

Best course of corporate-action is to either double down on what they have and just develop it further, or if the projected return on any further significant investment is seen to not warrant that then shift the project to maintenance mode in 14-16 months after the existing DLC cycle is concluded.

The game to be remastered would be Civ4 because it relies in totally different mechanism, much more oriented towards Empire building.
I could see IV getting prettied up, but Civ V is still totally modern and looking great.
I doubt we'll ever see a remaster of previous Civilization games. Why would Firaxis want to compete with itself? Now an Alpha Centauri remaster, that could theoretically happen since it wouldn't directly compete with the current Civilization title.

No thanks.

Loved 4, like 5 but the happiness was always the killer for me. Not being able to expand as much as you'd like.

I don't want a 5 remaster at all. I'd much rather see updated graphics for my favorite game in the series, Civ IV.

We'll never get a Civ V remaster unless someone mods it. Civilization has always been a series that moves forward.

I'd rather a Beyond Earth 2 than a SMAC or Beyond Earth remake/remaster anyway. So I'm glad they're always moving forward.
