Where's my native civ/leader creator?
Where's the ability to zoom into the city all the way and plan at street level?
Where's my exoplanet map to colonize? (We had THAT in Civ II, come TF on, Firaxis!)
What am I being offered? Graphics glow-up, roster update, ruleset tweaks?
Well, lemme just throw back my legs and pollute my pants with delight! Hot DAMN, the same ol'game looks a little prettier and there's a slightly-updated roster of leaders I could kinda dig but not as much as one I created myself! Wheeeeeeeeeeeeeee HAH! Etc.
Yeah, no, I'm not hyped for this at all. First 90% off sale? Might be interested.
They use Denuvo, the pricing is Triple-A, they will likely again sell tons of DLC which will triple even a 70 bucks entry fee.
And it's very likely not that innovative. Looks to me like they are using the main feature of their failed competitor.
I have maybe played a single game with Civ6, I am not looking forward to Civ7.
Thanks for coming by, there is no reason for you to continue to be around here since you won't be buying it or playing it.
But we both know you're not here to have discussions are you?
The standard edition of Civilization VI cost $60 at launch.
And Civilization VII was developed for 9 years!
The price of the standard edition is $70.
Now, considering the 9 years of development plus inflation, is $70 expensive?
Or will you wait another 5 years to buy it on sale for $5?)))
It's a forum to discuss the game, they dont have to buy it to discuss it. You will learn to live with it, you'll see.
Vote with your wallet, I certainly will.
Sad to say so as someone who remembers swapping floppy disks to play civ1 and still has the big paper box with civ2. But I'll either get this one from GoG in 2 years or not at all.
I understand passing expenses along to the consumer, but not one's failures and if VI took four years and VII took nine (allegedly -- are we talking the very first geneses of the idea of VII started nine years ago, or?) then that is a failure on the part of the business (esp. considering that it was basically the same game as IV -- at least, I thought so).
And please don't give me the ol' "but it offers hundreds or even thousands of hours of gameplay" argument. I can't stand that one. I don't pay authors based on the number of times I've read their work, or how long I spend so doing.
I'm not going to pay a game house for that either.
So, yes. I'll do exactly as I did with Civ VI -- wait several years, and get it on 90% sale. I REFUSE to financially support that ridiculous business model of 2K's.
game comes out, no content, wait 2 expansions, fantastic package to get
I'm also heavily discouraged from buying VII day-1 because of how just by looking at the editions sheet the base game (at 70€) feels like a demo version. No thanks, I'll wait until I get everything for 70 or less.
Civ 6 cost $60 when it came out in October of 2016. That amount of money from 2016 had the same purchasing power as $78.31 did as of November 2024, the latest month for which the US Bureau of Labor Statistics has data.
At a selling price of only $70.00, that's a good $8.31 you folks would be picking Firaxis's pocket for if you buy Civ 7 right now. No doubt those of you who have announced, several times over and over, that you aren't buying this game, are motivated by the selfless desire to not cheat a fine and upstanding corporate citizen like Firaxis out of the $7.81 it is rightfully due. Highly commendable of you!
Stop whining. Games have been 70+ for 40 years.
