Questions about map types.

I wish the map types had a description. As it is now, they're really confusing.

What is the difference between Continents and Continents Plus?
I know what a fractal is, but what does it have to do with map generation?
What is a Shuffle map?
Terra Incognita just means "Unexplored Territory/Earth," but doesn't that apply to all randomly generated maps with a fog of war?
The only one that I understand is archipelago. I mean, I guess I understand Continents, but I have no idea what differentiates it from the Plus version.

I'm genuinely enjoying this game despite its lack of polish, but hoo boy, does it need polish.
