List Of Things Wrong & Right With Civ 7 (Opinion) Feel free to post opinions in comments
Opinions and Comments - Originally i added this part at the end but I've moved it to the top. My views and opinions are my own and I will always listen to what ever anyone comments and try to understand YOUR perspective and use it as a way to change my own views if i SEE what you have said is based of information i have written here. That being said if You are just going to call me names or bad at the game then clearly there is no creative outlook from your opinion and it will mean very little to me. so here is a full view of what i think and what i think other people need to see before buying or playing. :)

Hey so I've played countless hours of Civ on many different consoles over the years and paid for the early access release and I can say with confidence, the game is fun but this is without a doubt the worst Civ they have every "released" as a new game.

please note i'm not here to just complain or talk bad about the game. But there are many things wrong with the release and its clear its a money grab before they actually "fix" whats wrong with the game. So here is a mixed list of things I personally don't like and a list of things i disagree with. and a few good things ive thrown in too.

Endless play - self explanatory, Civs main "motto" is "one more turn" yet the game ends and there's nothing you can do. making you restart just to repeat the process.

UI - everyone knows the issues. the main concern I have is it warns you once "settlement unprotected" from there my attention span goes and ill lose entire towns just because it warns once.
when a healing unit is attacked a small icon at the bottom left pops up along with a million different ones. so you not really forced to deal with that like every other Civ. you lose your unit off screen and that's it.
Final Point on UI is it doesn't really show what your doing. 90% of the time im not sure what towns need upgrading because ill just click next turn and it wont tell me unless there's a speciality available.

War- cant take settlements early game. used 14 warrior units on a settlement (going for military victory) and lost all of them to a single Slinger. not sure wtf to really say about this.
settlement was the only one the Civ had it was very very early game. had 2 commanders kept pushing units out and they just kept dying to this one Slinger.
Second point is you don't have a choice about war. weather you are improving relations with other Civs or just trying to go about playing a culture victory. no matter what the case the AI will always declare war and you have to respond so your entire "age" is ruined.
Furthermore with war, the AI produce unrealistic amount of military units in 1 turn. again with my previous point. if you declare a war on a settlement that you can see doesn't have any units nearby. within a turn or two 1 enemy Civ can produce many units. this is annoying because either the Civ has spent all of its money buying these units and can spawn them on other tiles. or their production output is insane. cant explain it but no matter how many units you throw at a Civ in 1 turn your going to lose a lot of yours.

Trading & merchants - its terrible go back to the way Civ 6 did it where you make a trader and it just does that for you too much going on for anyone to try and make traders useful. and by the time you make them in the 1st age. they are "destroyed" and by the second age the civs are randomly declaring war so not point having them.

civs and leaders - alright I tbf like the un-lockables it gives me something to work towards.
main issue is a civ will settle next to your borders and you will lose points because of that and eventually they will start a war with you. so in a sense you're being punished for nothing so say goodbye to the second age.

Caves and find-ables - in civ 6 it straight told you there was a "tribal village" civ 7 has none of that just looks with your eyes and if you miss it oh well theres a small bonus lost. needs to be more clear.

map size and variety - doesnt even look like they tried. the map generation and actual visual aspect looks brilliant i love the way the game looks. everything else is garbage. each time i play the maps look the same. a big square with tiny little islands just off the coast then another continent that looks the same. it looks lazy and i feel as if im playing the same map and same wonders over and over.
Standard being the largest size is a laughable considering civs previous games where each game felt like a new world. this has to be a joke from the developers. i cant think of why they would just not provide more variety.

Online play with friends - tried it once, re-synced every turn got to turn 10 and gave up. pretty much my experience with that.

bugs- a lot of the bugs have been ironed out fair play. i wouldn't really class it as buggy. yeah there are the odd visual bugs like a dead unit still showing the soldiers on the tile but whatever.

Exploration - I don't ever feel the need to go off my continent unless im required to do for a victory condition. having a navy is useless and ive never felt the need to have naval units. unlike civ 6 in which i always wanted era points by exploring and being the first to discover stuff. i don't feel the need to explore in the age of exploration and can happily go without exploring.

Building Wonders - every wonder you build comes with its own little cinematic and narration from Gwendoline Christie (excellent choice Btw, some of you may know her as Brienne of Tarth from Game of Thrones). the cinematic looks cheap unlike civ 6 where you watched it built from the ground up. this shows you about 4 different quick clips of the structure being built followed by a small celebration. kinda seems like the cut the budget on that.

victory conditions and presets - unlike other civs you cant edit the victory conditions. i used to play huge maps on civ 6 for hours seeing what i can do and build. now the ages pretty much go as follows:

1st age - set up what victory you are going for.

2nd age - have cpu start war against you and you have to stop production towards you victory condition. they dont let you have peace without giving up a city (which we all know isnt going to happen) unless you have stopped trying to win and put it all into units. and the enemy has no choice but to give you a settlement which is taken immediately by some civ thats just decided to start war due to YOU now controlling an enemy settlement.

3rd & final age - spend the start trying to build up because you couldn't complete the second age. get to about 60% on the age progress and the game ends because someone who wasn't at war managed to complete everything. rinse and repeat. the only time ive won is on "online" speed. nothing else.

Cost for the game - laughable spent 120 on an unfinished game. cant refund because each game is over 2 hours long and trying to learn and ready everything is impossible in that time frame to make a judgement on what would usually be large game.
personally i think its theft. I understand a lot of time went into a game. but civ 6 was released in October of 2016. so that's nine years to think about this and its half the size with nearly double the cost. I got the civ 6 dlcs from cdkeys because the dlc are vital for that game. no doubt civ 7 will release a dlc soon that will cost half the base game. when the base game isnt even finished. again someone check if they are just money laundering.

early access - good idea for finding bugs and getting player opinions. but most of them have been about how unfinished the game is. if you didn't buy the game id honestly hold out.

Good Things about the game - its fun. simple as.

things to do - There are so many unlock able "mementos" that add small perks to your start. love these the extra lookout distance is my favourite. the moment the game starts get a scout going and you can see a lot of the area.

Natural wonders - few about but with the map generation you will only see the same reoccurring few each game. but visually they look so good.

Fighting mechanics - i love that when you attack someone the game continues to "fight" until the turn ends. pretty cool adds more life.

City and Town Growth - the growth system once you get your head around it is the best out of all the civs. i feel more in control of what resources i want at each time. and how i want my city to look and i can expand it how i like rather then buying tiles.

civs and leaders - I do like the civ and leader style it can really be used to help with the type of victory you are going for and the age transitions seems to be pretty straight forward. although i believe if you are going to transition age. the game should allow you to only finish the productions you are currently working on rather then just stopping but it is what it is.

conclusion - All around a fun game with its own unique view on the civ world. i will continue to play because i feel obligated to get £120 worth of game-play for what seems like a concept of a game rather then a finished product.
There are many things to do but remember you only need 1 victory condition for the game to end so i would really waste time going for multiple like it suggests unless you want legacy points that don't really do much rather then increase Specific stats slightly.
I would and wouldn't recommend the game for new starters. the tutorial really helps but the ui is so unfriendly you don't actually know whats going on for about 40% of the game.

quick Q&A

Would I Buy the game as it is now? - simply put no. id have held out until they had added the features that should already be in the game. E.G auto explore for scouts, Endless Play, Bigger maps and variety, set victory conditions,

What Parts Are Enjoyable? most enjoyable part of the game is the narration. every tech and wonder you do or come across is shown with a small narration. for some reason i really look forward to this.

What Would I change? - this is very biased if you've read all ive wrote so far. ENDLESS GAMEPLAY. I dont really care about everything else. in some way shape or form with every complaint i have most of them can be achieved by playing differently. I work an office job 9 - 5 with a 45mins-1hr commute each way. i dont get a lot of time to play. my weekends are free as you can tell by the book ive written on this post. When I do play over the weekends my games are almost ALWAYS cut short by someone else completing a victory condition. and yeah you can say "get better" but i want to play my game the way I want to.

What am i looking forward to? - seeing what the developers actually fix. a lot of people have the same complaints but im not going to play it if by the end of march they haven't done the bare minimum of adding the features the people want to play. ill take it as a loss and move on.
Im also looking forward to more civs. like where is everyone? I know we are getting dlc's but i dont feel like i should be paying extra to play as someone who is already accessible in other games.

its funny how you go to sleep one day and when you wake 100 years later you have forgotten how to put goods on a transport and trade them with other people ..

I also really can't stand the no loyalty thing. I know civ 6 didn't have it initially, but holding back what should be a core feature by now so you can juice us for money later is disgusting. the fact that the world becomes a patchwork of random ass civs settling terrible cities just to provoke conflict is nonsense.

at some point, at the price you are charging for this crap, you have give us these game play elements or we won't play .. and we will be less likely to buy this crap later on. I'm becoming completely divested in this ip.

though honestly, im just waiting to play a game or 2 with the dlc i stupidly pre-purchased .. and I am probably out for good. hopefully modders will will keep civ 6 fresh somehow because the age / civ swapping humankind garbage is just too terrible for me to play.

also, pc gamers don't want to play mobile games on their pcs.
I've long held the opinion that the likelihood of a post being read is inversely proportional to the length of the post.

But who really knows.
