Stop trolling. You haven't even played the game. 🙄
First of all i'd prefer a game that didn't use toddler talk like EWE.
You are a grown man. Act like one.

That's where ur wrong, my high-altitude fellow. LOADS @ our place have played it for like 3 hours and realised that it is panty-liner and they have wasted their money and they should be listening to Daniel Powter's 'Bad Day' for the rest of....the DAY !

You can't fairly judge a game like this by playing it 3 hours. Play at least 25 hours before judging.

Garbage after 3 hours still garbage after 25

I know this is a troll thread but I'd hope for the next release they wouldn't design the more controversial features in a way that they could not be toggled on and off. I think they could make toggles for VII if they wanted but many posters say that is the deed that cannot be done.

I'm glad they took risks and changed up the game. I have plenty of versions of Civ to play if I want the same old mechanics. It's OK if it doesn't work out. I'd prefer they try and fail then not try.

Its weird how we complain about sports games that iterate but not innovate, but with other games we expect same old same old from them and any deviation brings out the mobs.

Except this is not innovation this is failing at copying other games mechanics they didn't do any anything new. They just destroyed the core game and added nothing actually new

i fear that going for toggle will result in getting the worst of both worlds.

take the ages for example
they will have to develop the game with ages in mind, making the game feel empty with them turned off.
meanwhile you will be stuck with many legacy functions that wont make sense for the ages.

the only way to do it properly is if you have a decent budget and patience from the people in charge, and those are 2 things that will never happen.
the result would be that instead of having 1 functional but controversial game you will have 2 unfinished game modes, making no one happy.

Frankly, I don't believe you.

If that did that, then they would have had to include a toggle for hexagons and one unit per tile in Civ V, and for districts in Civ VI. But I'm sure you realize that it's not really possible to make core features optional.
So far, the only things I actually have issues with are the incredibly amateurish UI (I suspect someone threw together a rough draft to make the game run, and then never went back and polished it), and how barebones Government and Religion are. Other that that, I like many of the new features, such as the Town / City divide, Ages, and swappable Leaders.

That said, making a persona for my favourite leader (Himiko) locked to the temporary Founders Pack is inexcusable.
I am not crazy about how it feels like they rushed it out the gate and built it with holes for future DLC but if studios take too many risks changing things they are abandoning their player base and if they dont change enough they are releasing the same garbage over and over. It seems like no game can release in a good state anymore and as far as big releases go, this one isn't that bad. Humankind was terrible at release, but it got (a little) better. Civ 6 was rough on release, I remember really being upset back then, but it became great. There are other examples of games releasing rough and getting better and as far as games in that category goes, Civ 7 is in pretty good shape. People lament it for being an unplayable mess but honestly thats a little dramatic. It is not perfect, it has problems and people can be upset with the approach they took but it is not nearly as bad as people are saying NOR should people who actually like the game be shunned.

I know the main topic of this thread is a joke but honestly I hope that Civ 8 doesn't get axed because of a rocky release. The minor issues with the game are fixable (like UI) and the biggest issues can be polished out (like the jarring age transitions). I can feel Civ 7 being a really good game and if it takes a year and some patches for some people to find it worth it, so-be-it. If other people enjoy it now, just let them enjoy it.
I'm not saying this won't be great, given love, but ai feels bad.
