But they only implemented it halfway through and also hide it quite well.
When you're playing in german then you might not have yet looked into the "Bestätigen" area of the new game section. At least I only discovered it on my second trial game. There they hide a few configuration options... much less then in previous games though.
Another hidden space is that arrow icon that points to the left when you select a unit in game. At least I thought first that's kind of a "back button" but when you click on it there is a folder with several icons in it that you might have missed... at least I did for a few hundred turns making multiple trial runs into the game.
Looking stylish or not in that place... after they introduced arrows to the left indeed as back buttons within the new game menus, using the same kind of symbol in game for that feature isn't really a well thought through UI choice. :-\
Don't know about you, but my biggest grievance are the lack of big maps and that city limit... takes away allmost all grandiorness and most of the goals you usually have while playing... I'm bored regularily when I reach ca. the 70th turn... it's mostly waiting for Godot from there on... at least if you play in the Antiquity era.
I started playing Civ I the day it arrived at the local Software Store (I had it on Preorder).
It is taking me some time to learn how the play well with the new game mechanics, but it looks promising. Although I want more time per Age, and bigger Maps.
I would like to see a Map Mode that displayed the Mini Map on the FULL monitor screen (I am playing 4K graphics, i.e. 2160 by 3840).
Yes, indeed, my 1st choice in CIV 6 was to select the huge map....
I need the "feeling" that a huge world is ready to explore and to conquer.....
Releasing weak version, not finished version, and than selling DLC after DLC.
I am not refering to the gameplay. Ovious.
CIv has done the same thing for a long time as well.... If you played since 1 , you know damn well they did it full force with 4.
I’ve played all Civs, since the very first one!! With respect, speak for yourself when you say that Civ7 plays very much like a classic Civ game, because it doesn’t!
This iteration is by far the most aggressive shift to a new paradigm, which IMHO, was probably best introduced as a spin-off title. I am pretty sure it would have enjoyed a much better reception and more likely long-term success as well.
2KGames, shame on you.
Befor spending money you should inform yourself what you want to buy.
Firaxis never hide anything. It was cristyl clear what features it will be have, how it looks, tie DLC situation, the UI.
So before spend so much money, inform yourself what you want to buy. If not, you will have a high chance to be a victim of an scammer in the future.
so no game play watching? Just people talking and giving their opinion? So negative opinion made your choice?
we wont ever get good and complete games ever again if you keep preordering or buying garbage games that scam you
But okay, I have to revise my stance. Since most reviews also mention that the basics are there, only the meat is missing from the bones, if there will be a steady stream of content patches AND if there will be an option to play on enormous maps AND if there will be a Workshop functionality implemented, then I may buy Civ7 at full price after a few months. But as of now, no gameplay videos or ecstatic reviews could convince me to risk 70 euros to buy a product that MAY be a full game after a few paid DLCs.
