Civ VIII
Please make it based on something like Civ IV and not this identity crisis that VII is having.
$100+ after taxes here in Canada for something that is barely Civilization is just a slap in the face tbh.
Yes, I don't own the game. I don't buy stuff right away to avoid exactly these kind of launches. Sadly, Civ VII will probably be the first one I completely skip unless the expansion/DLC drastically change things and bring it back inline with it actually being a CIVILIZATION game.

Every Civ was a bit different to the last ones. This one is not much different from that. Just the step was a bit longer/wider then the steps before.

To be honest, its not that bad. Maybe give the Game a try, when it is cheap, or has a free weekend. Every Civ needs some time for the player to get inside.

Ok, bro. I mean if you want it like Civ IV then go play Civ IV. Why can't a new game be different? It didn't change the version you like.

I'd rather spend my time playing something that actual appeals to me. I've been milked for my money enough by Firaxis after investing in all of the previous Civ titles. Withholding core content for DLCs while ruining a good formula is not something I'm interested in supporting with money or engagement.
wait 8 years and see there will be a totally differnt from any other game in serries like they all do
If you prefer Civ 4 then go play Civ 4.

And please close the door on your way out.
I will never understand players complaining that a new title of a series is not the same as the previous title. There is not much sense in publishing the same game over and over if not for the sake of diversity in them. I definitely don't need another Civ 6 because I already own a Civ 6. Give me something new and then I can decide if I like it or not.

And yes, there are many things we can complain about because the game is anything else then perfect. But for the sake of god stop complaining about the fact that someone tries something new.

Civ VIII will remove the cities from the game.

And the devs will call fans being scare of change if they don't like it. And the shills will defend it saying that previous Civ games never really had cities.

After this launch I'm done fantasizing about what this franchise could be. They had nearly a decade for this. Theres no ambition here. Just a half baked pile of ideas loaded down by predatory monetization practices.

Nailed the release date though. Good job pointy haired boss.

Civ VIII will be on all platforms plus mobile in 2034. It will be board game style with tiles, turns, and trees. Civ 7 code base and models but now with new textures. It will be optimized for touch screens, including wearables. $100 for 1-month base game subscription, which comes with 1 age of content and 3 leaders. There will be 5 levels of subscription, each upping the cost by $50/month and each adding a couple civs plus 2 weeks of early access per tier. Billed annually so the top tier will be $4200 for 1 year but 10 weeks early. Introducing Firaxis forums, included in your subscription you get access to these forums. Early Access signs NDA so this is the only place to talk about the game. Listen to part of Christopher Tins title song and you get more the higher tier you're in. Top tier gets to listen to the whole song. Song is called "Monetized FOMO will save us all" (Sang by AI and to the melody of "The Dream of Flight")

The fanboys will eat it up, I'll have to look elsewhere for my civilization fix or stay with the old ones. The direction Civ is headed is not good, half baked ideas implemented poorly for a premium price and the privilege of buying DLC's to bring back core functionality and fix the game? No thanks.

You don't know what you're missing. Pity they don't do demos anymore. Or steam should extend it's refund policy to 12/24 hours.

Id try it if it was on GOG with their 30 day refund policy

This is like being in the market for a new car, buying one from a respected make and being delivered a motorcycle or a motorhome. Yes, they can be extraordinary vehicles on their own right, but they are not the 2025 car model I was looking for!!!!

Now, on top of that, the motorcycle/motorhome come ridden with QC issues and lack some basic features that will require keeping the new vehicle in the garage waiting for recalls to go through, new parts to be delivered and repairs to be done.

Srsly. 37 hours in, and I just shut it down thinking "I'm gonna reinstall civ 5." I can't wait until Endless Legends 2 comes out.
