Treasure Fleets - Resources should pass from internal towns to road-connected port towns
I found it really strange that I could find treasure resources deep inland of distant lands that I couldn't export out (no access to fishing quay). Why not allow for towns connected via roads to "pass" their treasure resources to a town or city that is in a position to actually ship out the treasure fleet? I thought it would do this but unfortunately no go :(.

++ original post, if I connect a town on land via road to coastal town generating treasure fleets, the inland town should also be able to generate treasure fleets; or at least add points to the town it's connected to

Wondering if AI-settlements block this mechanic. My inland settlements were connected through an allied AI and they were not counted for my coastal-settlement for the treasure fleet.
Hope they work around these things (be it in alliance or open borders), if that really is the case. Especially since you cannot choose the way of the road yourself. :/

When I was testing, I had it where the inland town was connected via road and the borders of thee two towns even met, No other civ town to interrupt or cause problems, yet STILL there was no passing of the resource. I think its fair to say that not everything is working as it should...treasure fleet generation being just one of many.

Also the further the fleet sails the more score you get. So it is worth it to build as far away as possible.

I don't think this is accurate. As far as I can tell the points you get from any given treasure fleet is entirely dependent on how many developed treasure resources exist within the borders of the settlement that spawned the fleet. One point per developed treasure resource.

On the other hand I've had games where "distant lands" were within five tiles of one of my old world cities, and games where I had to travel four times that distance. Neither made a difference to the total points earned.

Yes, should be added. Pretty hopeful it will be once they dealt with the really urgent stuff.

The reference I was making to "Create Treasure Fleet" is something spoken of in the economy legacy path. I've never heard of this, so I figured this was how you "activate" the trading of the treasure resources to your distant town/ciities. The exact wording is:
"You can increase your scoring rate by founding more Settlements in Distant Lands, acquiring more Treasure Resources, and using the Create Treasure Fleet Diplomatic Action with any Distant Ally.
Next Obective: Score 20 Treasure Fleet (TF)......"

I am confused by this as well.

I do have Treasure Fleets spawning automatically.

But the game seems to indicate that I can speed up the process through a diplomatic action with a Distant Ally. I did ally with a civ on the distant continent but I do not see any sort of Create Treasure Fleet diplomatic action....
Aside from that, I'm sure there are folks here who know more but I still cannot fathom how the trade distance works and why, oh why, I can't 'export' a bonus resource from a 'distant land' town which has, seemingly, all the infrastructure to do so back to my main land trade network. It's something to do with proximity from what I can ascertain.
IF an AI controlled Settlement (Town or City) is blocking ROADS (because it is in the MIDDLE of the ROAD LINKING) from another Town/City that you control with Treasure Resources from sending those Treasure Resources, to a Port City (with a quay) that you control in Distant Lands,

THEN there is an obvious Solution CONQUER that AI Settlement, and either KEEP it or RAZE it. Possibly even KEEPING it will NOT work, in which case ONLY RAZING it (to get it out of the way) will WORK to SEND the TREASURE RESOURES, as long as the two Settlements are withing LAND TRADE ROUTE DISTANCE (after the RAZING is DONE).

AN Interesting question arises: IF that (potentially) BLOCKING Settlement is a MINOR CITY STATE that you control as SUZERAIN?
i.e. Can Treasure Resources be forwarded THROUGH a MINOR CITY STATE that you control as SUZERAIN (in Distant Lands)(assuming that the ROADS needed exists)?

Which raises an interesting question: Can a MINOR CITY STATE (in the interior, i.e. not a Port City) that you are SUZERAIN of Send Treasure Resources to your PORT CITY?

Which raises another interesting question: CAN a PORT(with a quay) MINOR CITY STATE that you are SUZERAIN of GENERATE a TREASURE FLEET?

I'd like some kind of screenshot of resources passing from one city to the next. Over the games I played this never happened even once. No matter whether there was or not something between the cities, creating road with merchants, with default road, nothing, not once.

The farther I've ever made it work is a fishing quay at the very end of a river connected to the sea (so the entire city inland apart from the river), and that's it.

But, to be honest, I wanna be proven wrong on this point and find out how to do it.

PS: city states don't generate treasure fleets, at least they never did in my games. I had quite a few on exportable resources.
