Marathon Speed and Reaching Future Tech
Hey all, just wondering if anyone playing on Marathon Speed has got more than 1/2 way through tech tree before the Antiquity age change?

I only ever play on Marathon as I like to use all the units in the age before they are upgraded....(standard speed you barely have moved your warrior unit before you upgrade it to a Musketman) and it feels like I am playing the whole game in a more immersive and epic way.

I'm a vet of Civ since the 90's and regular winner on deity level of Civ 6 at Marathon speed....I'm trying everything to see if I can get to future tech before the end of an age (spamming Libraries, Wonders etc) and taking out "Science" minor civs and the best I can get to is 1/2 to 2/3 of the way there.

Is it the length of an age just not increased correctly in proportion to Marathon speed settings? Or am I doing something wrong.....

Be really interested if anyone out there has made it to future tech during Antiquity in a Marathon speed game, and how you did it if you did!

P.S. I really like an earlier suggestion on this forum in which age transitions are defined when the last player hits future tech....with each player learning future tech boosting the others to speed them to it. This would be a really nice option.

Marathon speed is bugged (Not working as intended) , so i suggest you do your games on Epic if you were going for Marathon.

There are related posts on speed testing , on civfanatics. I am a Marathon player as well , but i will wait this mode to be fixed before i do any.

Epic speed looks good so far with long age. But map gets too small (even the standard map looks small after some point in exploration+).
Thanks - I'll try that. Perhaps the Age speed is also something that will be "modable" so the balance is right for Marathon games.

I have been playing the game at EPIC speed AND setting the Age length to long. This feels like good and balanced pacing

I am a long time Civ VI marathon speed player and have found both standard speed and Epic Speed work reasonably with the LONG turn option. Marathon does not work as I would expect at all at present in the game.

As in all Civilization games, your game settings are crucial to your enjoyment to the game. I did not have the experience to to know what exactly I wanted and how to do it. but after experimentation, seems to work.

Good Gaming.
