Endless Game - Isn't Civ all about that?
I don't mid the ages, in fact it's OK for me (would like them to last longer). As someone who has been in the franchise since the 2nd game, I think that Civilization was always about playing it the way you want it to play. Making the game as long as you want (or as long as the hardware can support it). With Civ 3 I used to have end game last for days, sometimes even weeks. I want that feeling back, instead of some mini games that have 3 sections and that run by too fast.

Hopefully modders can address this, but I am really hoping that Civ VII gets that as a patch. This is far from finished game or a game that's worth this much money . Can't recommend as this is just a try at a Civ game.
UI and other glitches can be fixed, but we are missing a whole information age and an endless gameplay. This is BS

Don't expect modding to fix this, they made it virtually impossible to do this in any reasonable amount of time.
It's not "missing" it's most likely removed to be sold as a $50 expansion.

Patience, you require.

This is Firaxis, one of the slowest developers that I know. Bethesda is running a hot second.

Look on the bright side. At least this time their work will be anticipated, worth the wait, and the investment.

They are off to a great start. Can't wait to see what they have in store for us in the future. The extension of the Ages will be the icing on the cake. The final expansion, the cherry on top.

Whose birthday is it?

As long as it isn't the Giant Death Robot's birthday, I'm good with their work rate and innovations this time around.

Civilization VII: Best in Show.

They didn't buy it, so they clearly have patience.

Standards, you require.
Actually in the userconfig file for the game they have an entry for it as an option to keep doing the one-more-turn thing but it's not enabled in the game (yet?) but clearly they were thinking ahead and got it in there as a feature.

I agree, I have been a big fan of this game since Civ 1 back in the 90's. I can't imagine how the developers of Civ 7 could have misunderstood the core fan base of this game so badly.

God I hope you are right. Can't stand these fast mini games. I've enabled the longest settings and still that's not what I want. I want that longest end game that just keeps on going until I get bored of it.

It could well be that at some point they will offer content that they withhold from the main game as an overpriced add-on at a later date. Unfortunately, that's how it works today. But the catastrophe with the age change, you can't get rid of that, I think it's hard-coded.

Do they happen too fast? In 12 hours I just started the second age.

But Civ is not about that. Some players, like you, may enjoy it that way (and it’s fine, good for you), but Civ always was a strategy board game with a begining, a goal and a end. It’s not a sort of sandbox designed for infinite games... I play civ since 1992, and never ever continued a game after its end. It’s like... i don’t know... continue to move the pieces on the chessboard after having beaten the enemy king. The game is over, let’s start another game ^^
You can’t blame designers for designing the game the way it is supposed to be designed...

There's some good news about this feature—it exists! but is currently hidden/disabled in the advanced settings menu. You can locate and edit the file for the time being. \Steam\steamapps\common\Sid Meier's Civilization VII change the string of the file below to Hidden="0"

File: SetupParameters.xml

<Row ParameterID="TurnLimit" Name="LOC_LIMIT_TURNS_NAME" Description="LOC_LIMIT_TURNS_DESCRIPTION" Domain="StandardTurnLimits" Hash="1" DefaultValue="TURNLIMIT_NONE" ConfigurationGroup="Game" ConfigurationKey="TurnLimitType" GroupId="AdvancedOptions" SortIndex="2000" Hidden="1"/>

<Row ParameterID="MaxTurns" Name="LOC_MAX_TURNS_NAME" Description="LOC_MAX_TURNS_DESCRIPTION" Domain="uint" Hash="0" DefaultValue="500" ConfigurationGroup="Game" ConfigurationKey="MaxTurns" GroupId="AdvancedOptions" SortIndex="2001"/>

They'll officially patch it behind a paywall update?
