Why does my civ7 keep closing while at main menu and Open their FAIR play page?
So I'm often just at main menu or looking at unlock progression and the game just closes, no error codes or anything..but opens up 2K's page regarding fairplay? whats up with that?

EDIT: ITs intentional actions by 2K, if you have any software or programs open that 2K deems as unwanted and against their terms and services even for a primarily single player game..closes the game and opens fairplay.

It's a bug. You're not the first to report it.

Is it a bug or is it more concerning that people perceive it to be? As digging in further it seems to only occur when on my system that has lots of development and testing tools open in background. Things like Ghidra, and such. I'm beginning to think this games searches for a list of running processes and quietly closes the game, and opens the webpage.

I'm gonna do more testing...but I am not thinking this is a bug, but intentional from Developers.:albino_trait::albino_trait:

I had to go to windows security options - virus and threat protection - manage settings - manage controlled folder access - allow an application to access one of the controlled folders and there put the game executables that are in your steam/steamapps/common/Sid Meier's Civilization VII folder

Well that might be the case for some windows machines,however I am not on windows.
If you have WeMod or Cheat Engine open, it seems that will cause Civ 7 to crash with the Fairplay notice. I had forgotten I had it open in the background lmao
This is what happens when you install applications that come bundled with unwanted 3rd party add-ons (i.e. Denuvo).
Who knows what other information it is harvesting from your PC at the same time as trying to dictate what applications you are allowed to run... and you paid exorbitant amounts for the privilege.

Yeah so from my findings and experimentation Civ7 has a rudimentary process scanning, now whether that's specifically 2K's work, or packaged with Denuvo is unclear. I have found that it will automatically close with these;
  • WeMod
  • ModEngine
  • Cheat Engine (If not built from source with custom process name)
  • Ghidra
  • Generally any well known Debugger/Reverse Engineering tool

So yeah its safe to say...this is not a bug, but fully intentional. The fact its opening to directly to 2K's Fairplay website page leads me think its not part of denuvo but their own system at play. Either way fully intentional from the devs, and I personally feel for a Primarily Single-Player game...as most memory edits cause desync in multiplayer...is kinda pointless and stupid to have this functionality in Civ
